I didn't have to look that one up! He played Major Dodd. He was the one who came to Marlena's place and told her Roman had died (then Josh Taylor popped up shortly after wheeled into St. Luke's by Kristen).

William Roache has played Ken Barlow in Coronation Street, almost continuously, since Episode 1 on December 9th 1960. His only soap role.

 

I think he’s still in the Guinness World Records as the longest serving male television star in a continuous role.

Speaking of Kelly Ripa I remember when the soap press kept pushing Erin Hershey Pressley as a next big soap star but aside from guest hosting the View her other soap auditions didn’t fare well.

She definitely appeared on PC a few times in the early days.  But it's not like Skye-who played the character on all ABC soaps.  She, to me, was a GH character doing guest appearances on AMC/PC.  Although I would say Night Shift was her own vehicle so that's a toughie.

It's not hard to find one and done actors, because there are a lot, but it's hard to find iconic one soap actors.
