OOps- I also forgot to mention the Hillbilly Chance never had an accent, they've needed to recast from the git-go LOL.  Paging John Driscoll --  hear he was doing that other show.  I'd like a "chance" to see a decent actor in the legacy role.

Abby I'm indifferent on, but they've done her no favors in the stupid tit for tat Phyllis story. Mix her in with the Devon set.  Move Mariah to working at ChanceComm, as she has experience in media since she has no job.

There was a good reason for Kevin and Chloe being gone......

I've also always enjoyed the Abbotts more than the Newmans. Sometimes the Newmans feel like the family that ate the show.

As has been mentioned before, the show really needs more characters that aren't filthy rich. We need people who are middle class or social climbers to balance everything.

Right now, almost everyone is super rich.

Oh. I never cared for the Newmans. I always thought the Abbotts were more compelling family especially since the talent of the actors heavily skewed towards the Abbotts. To play a Newman you only have to be ok.
Adam, Nick, and Victoria stay front burner and Billy essentially served as an extension due to awful Villy.

Exactly---Alyssa the reporter, working middle class. We have no cops except Rey, and he's never working.  Mariah could be toiling at ChanceComm. A  great way to integrate some lower middle class character would be through the Clinic.  A nurse or receptionist, a couple of locals that run a nearby diner or work at say Fenmores.  The show needs economic diversity.  How about  a couple of employees at the Grand Penis er Phoenix-- a bellperson, desk employee?

The dialogue is weak, dry, generic, and expository. If you’re not going to be telling grand stories or creating visual interest, at least make me laugh or something. Give me some rich character insights. I felt the same about Sussman’s stint. If you’re going to spin wheels, at least make add some razzle dazzle. DAYS (which isn’t fabulous by any means) currently does it far better than Y&R.

Where are the romances being thwarted by secrets and schemes?

The business stories that are affecting relationships and testing loyalties?

There's no long term build up - things that were happening months ago have no bearing on what's going on now and most of the characters have no story...

I agree that they are trying (and failing) with Chelsea/Adam/Sharon/Rey, plus with Billy/Alyssa scheming against Adam. But this show just feels like it’s in a period of transition with no end in sight. No momentum. Everything feels like a glorified C- or D-story (with no peaking A-story), and they are hoping viewers have the patience to sit through all of this. And these writers aren’t Claire Labine. And the characters don’t really pop. The conversations feel incredibly plot-driven yet there’s not really that much plot to speak of.

    • I still see Alfonso Ribeiro as Carlton when Martin gets angry.
    • Not that I want to defend Y&R's writers, but it's not as absurd as you'd think and I believe they plucked it from reality (and then bungled it). The Estee Lauder Companies purchased Tom Ford's brand several years ago and I am willing to bet that's how Jabot came to buy Marchetti.
    • Loved the episode today. looking forward to the fallout. Nubian-Sheila looked fantastic, but I wish the writers would cut back on her overuse of figurative language. I loved the "fix yo mind ministries" line though. The background music during her fantasy confrontation with Nicole was epic.
    • Nothing makes sense on this show. I wish there was a garbage can emoji. That sums up 90% of the show right now.

Jane Wyman return episode was head-to-head w/ Cheers season 8 finale. Falcon Crest broadcast syndication began Fall 1986, which overlapped w/ Oprah going national. AFAIK cable broadcasts were Lifetime and Soapnet. I have no memory of cable broadcasts on TBS, TNT, TNN, E!, FX.
    • After today’s rushed and abrupt exit for Summer I immediately realized that Josh & Co. were very blindsided by AL’s decision to leave.  Not the first time this has happened to JG either; see MM & HK’s exits in 2021, MM’s exit in 2022, and of course TSJ’s exit last year. Obviously JG and our executive in charge of nothing Steve Kent don’t have a good handle on casting disruptions. And Mariah having an offscreen affair is [!@#$%^&*] ridiculous!! Meanwhile Tessa’s blonde hair is overkill with the number of blondes on the show already. I said the same thing 3 years ago…of course it was utterly ridiculous everyone was mad at Sally for getting Summer he dream job (don’t ask lol) but there was so much the show could have done without bringing on the Marchetti angle.
    • Does the ball on GL where Philip revealed that he had forced Alan out of Spaulding count or was that not Philip's idea?  There was a ball on AMC where Adam revealed that he had bankrupted Palmer, I think (or was it the other way around?), but I can't remember who threw that.
    • Thanks for honoring Ruth Buzzi. She was a treasure. I'm glad DAYS let her have some fun. I remember Imogene Coca complaining about ATWT just giving her a drab guest part.
    • It's such a delicious set of circumstances that I'm actually a little surprised that I can't think of ones that exactly match. I've just got a couple of close but no cigars (the reveal wasn't public, like when Alexis told Dominique at her and Garrett's engagement party that Garrett lied about being married; or the revealer didn't come up with the idea of the party). Maybe I need to think some more about it.
