I didn't mind when they were off the canvas for that year or so when they were gone. They bring nothing to the show and that is sad since Chloe is Esther's daughter and Katherine' Chancellor's goddaughter. Elizabeth and Greg our good actors but the characters and the damage they have suffered over the years make me care about them anymore.

Olivia - GH

At a time she had a purpose as Dante's mother and a character,  but I was hoping during Ryan's Murders 2.0 she was going to be a casualty. It just seems like she is now only there to fuss at Lulu for moving on without Dante and being the new modern matriarch of the Q's and remind us she and Ned our married.

Dev - GH

Great choices. I hated how forced Janet and Liberty were onto all the Snyder’s and Dusty the last two years of ATWT

Cyrus I was just neutral on but Grady/“G” was absolutely dreadful and I was glad that Phillip threw him to his death, and nobody back in Springfield even cared they just assumed he finally left town for good.

I was going to mention Cane but since he’s finally go I felt it was just be silent about him

It's amazing how many dead weight characters GH has lol.  LLC would have been better as a Lois recast.

Dev on GH is odd.  It seems like they were going somewhere with the character, but then dropped it?  Maybe he really was supposed to be Brenda's kid and that fell apart or VM wouldn't return.  Regardless, he's pretty useless now.

Peter-there are no words.  He should thank his lucky stars LW is his girlfriend and keeps him employed.

Absolutely.  And you can add Nina to the list of those already mentioned.  And Willow/Sasha.  I know they drive story but I think they are the same character.  We don't need two of them lol.

I don't think Jax is a dead weight character due to his history of being popular, but he really is misused now and has no purpose.

Ben on Days. They are willing to make every single character on canvas look ridiculous to try to prop him. This week they literally had Will, who Ben attempted to strangle to death, say that the whole incident is just "water under the bridge." The whole town has to prop up this serial killer, and people who don't like Ben (like Eve, whose daughter he murdered) are looked at as the bad guys.

It's amazing how Y&R brings out the worst qualities of GR and EH. She was almost not repulsive in some of her early run. They really screwed up with David Tom's return, as well. A little bit of direction and he would have been fine.

Cane had to be the most dead weight. Phyllis' sister might be a close second... Avery. It even took me a minute to remember her name. Then again, when I think about it, with the long parade of failed characters since 2012 and even earlier, she can't really be singled out. Cane, on the other hand...

    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
    • French fan summary Rusty took over Simon's job at Lewis Trucking after Simon transferred to Lewis Oil's North Carolina office to live near Jessie and Calla. I doubt they would bother following up a story for offscreen characters eg marriage and a baby.
    • I suspected that the performance with the reveal was the reason why the Ted actor got the axe and it looks like I was right. He wasn't really good at conveying what needed to be conveyed in those scenes. Claybon is at least slowly improving (but I agree that he still needs to work on his line delivery), but I do wonder what will happen when his big reveal is coming up.
    • I've already asked this before, recently, but can anyone who watched those years more closely tell me if anything said about Jessie and Simon at the end of their profiles is accurate (about them marrying, naming a baby after Brandon/Lujack, etc.)?
    • Nicole is way too smart to not know she was carrying twins - she's a doctor! My guess is that Leslie did abort her baby out of fear, and as payback, stole Ted and Nicole's child (Eva), and stole Kat from another family to replace her in the hospital.
    • Those Soap Central profiles have a lot of incorrect info. According to SOD summaries and the Daytime Newsletter of the time,Tim left town for a new job and Pam reunited with the father of her baby and also departed Springfield. They did not marry.
    • Do we believe that Jabot is at the level of Estee Lauder?? I am on board with Jabot deciding to expand but the way it was handled was ridiculous. Jabot just decided and bingo, that was that. Not months of negotiations and decisions about how it would fit into the Jabot portfolio. And then no follow through. Josh thinks he's serving business stories by characters sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers and job switching. Now we have Audra setting up her own company -Vibrator or something. Well, why not? You don't need staff, office space or even products.
