“The Young and the Restless” star Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) calls for the return of Daniel Goddard (ex-Cane Ashby) to the show’s cast.

“Two good friends are no longer on the show: Kristoff [St. John], who passed away, and Daniel Goddard, who is a damned good actor and should be with us!” tweeted Braeden on Wednesday, August 22, one day before the show ran out of original episodes it could air following its production shutdown last month. “Miss them both, along with Dougie Davidson, who isn’t on the show enough!” continued Braeden in his tweet, referring to Doug Davidson (Paul Williams).

In response, Goddard said, “My dear friend, Eric Braeden. I miss you and ‘The Young and the Restless’ so very, very much. My sincerest respect to you always.” He added, “I don’t know what to say other than sometimes life just doesn’t make any sense.” The actor concluded his post using the hashtag #BeBlessed and a broken heart emoji, while also displaying love for the late Kristoff St. John.

Goddard was let go from the show last fall and made his final appearance on November 28, 2019. “It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that I will no longer be part of the cast of ‘The Young and the Restless.’ I am as shocked and gutted as you are,” wrote Goddard on his social media in announcing the news of his ouster.

He made his debut on the show in January 2007.
