Same here.

15-minute soaps would be ideal, especially for those who tend to stream shows on handheld devices (phones, tablets, etc). Viewers might return to the days of catching up on their "stories" at work during lunch and other breaks; and even if you're the type who prefers to binge watch an entire week's worth of shows at once, doing so in 75 minutes (with commercials, less without) might be preferable to 150 or 300.

Moreover, if I were writing and/or producing my own soap, I might even repurpose each week's episodes into a sort of "omnibus" edition every weekend that would feature even extra scenes or moments that might've been cut from earlier in the week due to time constraints.

Exactly. I have said this too many times now but they make so much sense in today's world. We now have those vertical movies or whatever they are called which are just short snippets people can watch a few minutes at a time in their phones. The budgets would be very cheap, a small cast. Just get decent writing and casting and that's all you need. Much of the available footage of 15 minute soaps is better than anything on daytime in recent years, to me.

They could tape them "Live" like they did back in the day. It would up the game for actors to know their lines and hit their marks. Pre-recorded shows let a lot of actors get lazy and they rely on cue cards and phone in a performance. It would also help weed out bad actors who don't respect the genre. A lot of viewers would tune in just to see if there were any flubs/mishaps.

OMGosh, Mama Khan LOVES binge watching those that are available on YT, lol. They don't offer much in the way of character development - a deficiency I chalk up to laziness on the part of the filmmakers - but they are a fun, convenient way to get one's "soap fix." And you're right, it wouldn't take much to produce 15-minute soaps like that: just good casting, directing and writing.

That's a great idea.
