In all of the talk about Sajak retiring this week, this thought never occurred to me and yes - it's mind-boggling. It really makes me sad because little bit by little bit, the classic stalwarts of game shows are passing away or retiring. Bob, Alex, and Pat were the hosts you could count on for over 20 years. Even when other shows/hosts came up and had a turn a spotlight, it was usually fleeting, but the Big Three were still there.

Speaking of Alex/Jeopardy, I've been watching the Pluto channel a LOT lately, and it seems they've settled in to really just airing series of episodes featuring long-lasting returning champions. It's interesting to see, but it's gotten pretty old pretty quickly, and seeing so much of it at one time really drives home how different the game has become. Yes, it's exciting to watch these contestants quickly build up thousands and thousands of dollars over a few days, but you can see the look of futility in the other contestants' faces, Alex was never really tactful about not just making it all about the returning champs, and many of the returning champs just have really, really uncomfortable and unlikeable personalities. I've never liked James Holzhauer, but in watching the reruns, I've taken a strong disliking to Austin Rogers, too. Some were not as bad, but most of them are pretty smug.

Don’t make me laugh. I figured it’s only a matter of time before Sajak ends up in the loony bin with his predecessor Chuck Woolery.

As far “beloved” hosts go I mean I haven’t cared for Sajak in years and even then he could be crass/tasteless and well sexist. And of course Bob Barker was a very nasty individual who would’ve been deservedly unceremoniously dumped had #metoo happened during his era.

I never have cared for Sajak onscreen either. Just very smarmy. I never did for Barker either after the stuff with Dian, although he was a better onscreen presence.

I was so disappointed to her about Woolery and Wink Martindale, even if they were never favorites of mine.

My favorite was probably Jim Perry (who nearly got WoF). I hope he wasn't an [!@#$%^&*]...

Bob’s mid-80s era being available to watch 24/7 has definitely revealed just how much was allowed and ignored. It really feels like there’s a gross (and often awkward) moment at least once an episode. Pat…well, I’ve never been a huge regular viewer of WoF - now or in the past - and his demeanor has not been very welcoming for a long, long time, but I just can’t downplay how much he (and Bob) have meant to the genre. Great role models? No. Great game show hosts, in their prime? Absolutely. We don’t have many of those active in the business anymore.

    • This is me *pea green with envy* *sigh* The Reva vortex was like an F5 tornado. Widespread mayhem and damage.
    •  Yeah, I guess what easily comes to mind are guests who have taken advantage of a situation to reveal a secret (e.g. the mistress stopping a wedding to say that they're pregnant), or a host who planned an event to reveal things (like John Dixon's plan to humiliate Lisa at their engagement party on ATWT). But, that's a whole other level, where you can manipulate someone to throw a party in order to ruin it.
    • Not the community penis. Providing his service pro bono...I can't with his thirsty a**. Any chance that the OG Ted can come back as his brother back from the dead who died in the plane crash. It would give Andre family, too.
    • Now that Leslie has had her fun what is she hoping for now? If I were Ted I'd be on the prowl for a hitman. Take her OUT! The new Ted, known for playing vile characters, just might do that.
    • To be clear, I know there have been a gazillion reveals at events on soaps. But these are usually events that would happen anyhow, like a city commemoration or a long-planned wedding. My *specific* question:  Has a character ever orchestrated an event to occur, for a seemingly benevolent reason, but actually for the sole purpose of spilling a reveal at the party, to the surprise of the event planners/hosts. Specifically: an event that the event hosts wouldn't have thought of making happen, and the hosts planned this event -- only due to the seemingly-innocent urging of the outside instigator who is secretly planning the reveal. This is NOT about an event that would have happened anyways. My reason for asking:  April/May 2025, on BeyondTheGates, a couple was NOT planning a wedding anniversary party.  But there was a plot by an instigator to convince the couple to have the party, and the motivation for this was so that the instigator could do a big reveal. The party wouldn't have happened if the instigator hadn't suggested it. I'm wondering if this has ever happened before on a soap, that a big event came into existence due to the plotting of the revealers.

    • That photo is Andre is being respectfully kind to his cousin Eva, after the reveal.
    • It's okay. Will be just as good whenever you pull yourself up to some screen! It's not like they're  going to spoil or get cold & have to be zapped or that the ice is all going to melt. LOL!! Okay, I'm just making it worse ... so sorry.  I'll just tiptoe out ....
    • Cleverness in writing would have to be involved. I don't think it exists with these showrunners.   Community penis will be nice to ANY woman.
    • I think Nicole gave birth to both Kat and Eva and Dan̈a stole Eva
