I get what you are saying.  She talked about integrity of the character and her love for GH, but it didn't show?  She is either not that smart or has a bad manager.  She isn't a young ingénue anymore.  She should have just stayed with GH appearing 2 or 3 times a week.  She will always be Sonny's main love interest so she could have milked that to the end of time.  Plus Jax she would have been fine.

I think if her last stint had been more successful she would have stayed.  And by successful I’m not necessarily talking ratings.

Her first return had story she liked and story projections she liked.  The audience responded to it better too.  She left because JFP and the network would not give her a reduced workload and early outs due to her kid being young and not wanting to be away from him that much.

Her second return she didn’t like the kid story, or the original storyline with Dante.  Plus she didn’t drive the ratings up the same that time.

I don’t care if these people come back because they need a check.  They are working actors and it is a job.  Beverlee McKinsey said she took the small part on GH after GL for her insurance.  I don’t feel she just wanted a check, I felt she didn’t like the story or where they wanted it to go.

And again- JFP let many, many men get away with perks and bad behavior and has a list of women she treated differently.

As an actor, it's your job to try to sell whatever material gets thrown at you regardless of personal feelings. VM just sleepwalked though that last stint and relied on some terrible acting tics to get her though it. The story was bad - but what was the excuse for VM's crackling and barely trying? I'm not even going to blame that on the rapid pace of daytime - she knew what she was getting herself into.

I think VM tried with MB the most.  And she got a lot better toward the end of her stint.  There were some very strange acting tics and at points I felt like she forgot how to play Brenda, which was odd since she was the only actress to play her ever.  To be fair though MB and SBu haven't tried in well over a decade so there's that.  Anyway, it was clear her heart wasn't in it and that's a shame for Brenda fans because we waited a long time for her to return.  Her weird 2013 return where she was randomly pretending to sleep with Michael she came off more like Brenda of the 90's, even if she was doing ridiculous things.

I don't remember hearing any quotes from VM regarding her 2013 return that let her feelings about the story known from that time.  I think if she signed a contract we would have been headed toward a Connie/Brenda/Sonny triangle.  Maybe she wasn't keen on that idea.  KSu's Kate was being pushed like crazy back then.  Maybe VM didn't want Brenda to be on the losing end of that.

Hahahahahaha

Thank you!!! I noticed in the thread that it seem everyone was talking about her 2010-11 stint and not really the 2013 return which bad writing aside, felt more like how Brenda is. I remember her 2010-11 stint and other than that lovely THAT WOMAN picture Cheap made that I still have was not like her. 90s Brenda would have slapped That Woman down by the time that wedding happened.

2013? She was her at least.

Yeah, although the writing was extremely bizarre in every way it did feel more like VM was actually playing Brenda.  I wish I could find the Jax and Brenda breakup scenes from that return.  Jax was savage to Brenda and IR was good.   Apparently they don't exist on you tube anymore.

    • And here I thought I'd never think about Lauren Tewes again after her brief appearance in Twin Peaks Season 3.
    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. I will freely admit some of the other chances she took at other shows often came off stiff, hammy or downright mortifying (Kelly Andrews, come on down). (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
    • There’s absolutely nothing exciting happening storyline wise but I’m always happy to see the vets on my screen so I’ll take what I can get. It’s also just nice to see them all dressed up in the same room, it always gives classic Y&R vibes. The best part? No Phyllis.

    • Well now we had Ashley's reaction-and weren't we all gasping when she appeared to hate it-but she was just joking!! She loved it. Now we have to see Abby's reaction, and maybe Mamie could come back to say she loves it. How about Jill via Zoom giving her opinion (she'll love it) and bring in a day player to play Mrs Martinez to say she loves it also... I feel bad to keep dumping on this show (not really) but when the choices they make are so inane, it's the only entertainment value the show has. Let's unpack the Nikki birthday story. So Claire wants to throw her Nana a birthday bash as away of endearing Kyle to Victor. Don't quite get the logic there, but OK. She hires a party planner who makes ridiculous suggestions. Slightly annoyed that Y&R are hiring someone for this role for 5 episodes when we never see doctors, co- workers etc. But OK to that to. With all the talk we are expecting something special. What we get is the Jazz Lounge hideously decorated with some ugly tablecloths and a few tacky decorations. They needed a planner for this? Then the guest list consists of family members (no grandchildren)and a few others. Hardly a party. As usual the costuming is pretty awful. A red and black theme ? And our guest of honor is sporting a do that looks like a cross between Cameron Diaz in Something about Mary and Marie from Roxette. They should have had an intimate dinner and ditched all the fanfare. Would have been way more believable.

    • Her accent sounds horrible and doesn't fit in line with the character or the dialogue. I was just messing around on YouTube and perusing early Tad and Dixie videos. Notably, Dixie, a resident of Pigeon Hollow, West Virginia, has no discernible accent. i have no idea why she would add a defunct accent to this character now. I want to do an honest survey here. I watch BTG every day and I love it. It's not perfect, but I find it 99% entertaining. For those that find fault with it - what is actually bothering you? I'm not going to argue at all, or disagree with you. I just want to know what others are seeing that I'm not.
    • It's a choice and today, she made it more British than ever before. It's almost like she's making Pamela act like how she thinks she should be acting.
    • I cannot believe there is a whole storyline about the Abbott house renovation. They really are grasping over at Y&R. I don’t see a big difference in the set. It is refreshed. Why make a storyline out of it?
    • Cady is using what sounds like a transatlantic accent which is so odd these days. Sharon's hostility is entertaining already. That look she gave Anita when she opened the door was pure attitude.
