May 30, 20197 yr Member I think he's just having fun with the material but it is a bit over the top at times, lol. Like Gray Bunny said, he's been that way since his 2001 return. But I imagine it's also due to the juvenile/trash writing Jack has often gotten ... I wish they had cared to do more with his PTSD. Ashford was less hammy (except for the whole falling into a cake thing) in 2011/2012, but my viewing was hit or miss then but I feel like if given the right material he'd be captivating to watch. I hope they do justice to Jack's guilt and remorse over who he became since his memory loss.
May 30, 20197 yr Member Frankly, aside from when he first joined the show (way back in the Precambrian Era, I guess), Matthew Ashford's acting as Jack Deveraux has been all over the place -- which I've always chalked up to his sensing that TPTB either never really liked Jack, or they've never been entirely sure of which direction to take him. Again, that's what happens when a rapist is redeemed by popular demand. Edited May 30, 20197 yr by Khan

Again, that's the risk you take when you try to redeem a rapist by popular demand. "All over" is a good way to put it.
