I was thrilled to see her!

Love Jackee's tweet  My 227 loving heart enjoyed seeing them together again (and Jackee was great as Diane Stockwell!)

I thought Will Ferrell did a great job, his dialogue in the hallway with Kerry Washington made me emotional.  I also really liked Marissa Tomei's energy as the always-hopping Edith.

However, I thought Jamie Fox was showboating when he went up on his line and I felt like he was not being a team player and allowing others a moment.  I got stuck when Wanda Sykes said that The Jefferson's lived in a four-bedroom apartment, during her interview with Florence, because I think it was two bedrooms/four rooms, but she chose not to highlight her mistake.

I was really nostalgic for the sets.  I still recall when The Jefferson's redecorated their apartment, and how chic I thought it was that there was a cocktail lounge in their lobby, with a doorman, and a dry cleaner that delivered.  All in all, I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would.

Jamie Foxx was funny and nails some of Sherman’s mannerisms, but I don’t feel he was really present with other cast.

I love Kerry Washington. I think she’s very talented in spite of the flak she got for her performances on Scandal. She was a surprisingly great SNL host years ago. She should do more comedy.

Loved seeing Jackée and Marla together.

I understand why they did it in today’s climate, but it’s BS they repeatedly bleeped out the N word. In the context of the show, we needed to hear the weight of that word.

As already said, Tomei was brilliant and deserves to add an Emmy alongside the Oscar on her mantle.

If I had known Marla Gibbs was going to appear again as Florence, I might have watched, lol.

(But seriously.  The airdate had completely slipped my mind.)

Me too.

It's a real credit to Justina Machado she was willing to let them put her name on there as a fakeout.

I wasn't going to watch because of Will Ferrell. I can't say I regret my decision. I'm glad Marla was included though.

I forgot completely Ferrell was in it until he showed up and I cringed immediately. Helen and Tom were made a parody of. I can kind of get what the actors were going for but it fell flat, IMHO.

I know Sykes is getting criticism but I think she was just doing her take on Louise and I didn't necessarily hate it, but Sanford was so full of life (but remember AITF Louise was more understated, but she still had her moments). Louise was very different than what she ultimately became on The Jeffersons so I thought it was a decent take, but was it a good use of her? No. I've rethought it and I appreciate her trying to do her own take. I think she wasn't trying to parody Isabel Sanford and looking back now, I appreciate that. There's a fine line between paying homage and being a total parody SNL skit.

Personally, I could have done without the Frank Lorenzo bit ... lol, sorry Sean Hayes but all I saw was Hairspray Live! when he walked in.

    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
    • French fan summary Rusty took over Simon's job at Lewis Trucking after Simon transferred to Lewis Oil's North Carolina office to live near Jessie and Calla. I doubt they would bother following up a story for offscreen characters eg marriage and a baby.
    • I suspected that the performance with the reveal was the reason why the Ted actor got the axe and it looks like I was right. He wasn't really good at conveying what needed to be conveyed in those scenes. Claybon is at least slowly improving (but I agree that he still needs to work on his line delivery), but I do wonder what will happen when his big reveal is coming up.
    • I've already asked this before, recently, but can anyone who watched those years more closely tell me if anything said about Jessie and Simon at the end of their profiles is accurate (about them marrying, naming a baby after Brandon/Lujack, etc.)?
    • Nicole is way too smart to not know she was carrying twins - she's a doctor! My guess is that Leslie did abort her baby out of fear, and as payback, stole Ted and Nicole's child (Eva), and stole Kat from another family to replace her in the hospital.
    • Those Soap Central profiles have a lot of incorrect info. According to SOD summaries and the Daytime Newsletter of the time,Tim left town for a new job and Pam reunited with the father of her baby and also departed Springfield. They did not marry.
    • Do we believe that Jabot is at the level of Estee Lauder?? I am on board with Jabot deciding to expand but the way it was handled was ridiculous. Jabot just decided and bingo, that was that. Not months of negotiations and decisions about how it would fit into the Jabot portfolio. And then no follow through. Josh thinks he's serving business stories by characters sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers and job switching. Now we have Audra setting up her own company -Vibrator or something. Well, why not? You don't need staff, office space or even products.
    • He a dirty dog! Those are his kids and he hurt everyone. At this point he needed to just come clean. I can't believe I was lusting over this man! I hope they aren't quick to forgive.
