I've got zero problem with him heaping praise on Maura and Jon (who are some of the few earning their paycheck on that mess of a show) but wtf Benard's done that hasn't amounted to sleepwalking through scenes is beyond me.

And I can only assume that Oscar is the only juvenile male left on the planet if he's this year's "best" of anything.

I quickly scrolled through it and even I had to stop half way through. I didn't read any of the paragraphs he wrote. And there are way too many random categories. I'm cool with Maura getting overall best actress, and while I didn't mind Marci Miller as Abby, even I had to laugh at her being tied with Maura. Let's not get carried away.

Bernard and Howarth getting honorable mentions for best actor - for what?

Max Gail and Jon Lindstrom for supporting actor - I'm okay with that.

Actually laughed out laugh at the kid playing Oscar getting best younger actor. HUH? This is where I stopped.

Ron Carlivati as soap maker of the year?  I stopped right after that.  He has carried on reinforcing every negative stereotype non soap watchers have of soaps.. inheriting that crown from the late James Reilly, who at the one time actually had some writing talent.

Fairman is working for Days and developed the app. Of course, he was going to fawn all over the show. He did call out one of Days lowest moments, the Mexico plot.  He was spot on with some and not so with other call outs.  The YR Ash story was a major bust, starting with Sally giving Dina alzheimer's. Then Mal doing the Jack isn't an Abbot thing. Dumb.  GH had the worst year though, creatively. It was all over the map which tells me that head writing by large committee (Valentini, Varni, Altman, Van Etten and Drummer) doesn't make for good soap. At lease with Ron, you get a single vision with history woven in.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
