Members Khan
I could have gone the rest of my life not knowing that Sam Elliott was a homophobic bastard. When will actors learn to keep their damn mouths shut?
Members DramatistDreamer
Seems like Pandora's box has been permanently pried open and it's not just actors showing their intolerance. An Estee Lauder executive just lost his high-salary job after posting some racist and incredibly odd and embarrassingly unfunny meme.

Members DramatistDreamer
After Jane Campion's ignorant remarks at the CCA, she can take a moment to go sit in the corner with Sam Elliott.
Administrator Toups Posted March 15, 2022 Administrator Share Posted March 15, 2022 What Jane said was dumb but it wasn’t *that* bad, and she apologized right away. With wins at the BAFTAs and Critics Choice Awards, TPOTD takes the lead in the race for Best Picture. Only big award left is the Producers Guild. And it looks like the acting categories are set. I wonder if there will be an upset.
Members Vee
I love Jane Campion's work but she is eccentric, and what she said was dumb at best. I'm glad she apologized, but she's gonna take her turn in the barrel.
Members DramatistDreamer
I think Campion's remarks have fallen back on her so harshly because it's what Black women hear all the time and many people were so sick of it. It came off as dismissive and she apologized after being dragged. The Williams sisters will let it slide, as they have lots of other micro aggressions they've endured in their careers, although Serena could have something to say eventually. It's kicked up a backlash because without knowing it, Campion has illustrated a prime example of what some deride as a classic case of white feminism. Very conditional in its solidarity. Apparently, Campion wasn't aware that Venus was the one who brought equal pay at Wimbledon for the women of the tennis tour. What has she done to level the field for women directors besides competing with the men, as she has said? Members DRW50
I was reading about the comments Rebel Wilson made after Will Smith won Best Actor at the BAFTAs (dragging him for Jada being with other men). I know that Jada herself brought all that up on her talk show, but I wish so many of these hosts would stop trying to "shock" everyone and just tell a few jokes and get the hell out of the way. It's just graceless, and tired.

Administrator Toups Posted March 21, 2022 Administrator Share Posted March 21, 2022 If there is an upset, it usually happens more in the Supporting category. I think that will be the situation this year. So CODA and TPOTD are head-to-head coming down the stretch.
Members j swift
Entertainment Weekly had those annual articles where they spoke directly to 3-4 academy voters. I've always wondered how often people who qualify to vote for more than one award show split their vote between ceremonies? For example, are there people who vote for one actor for the SAG awards and another for the Oscars in order to "spread the wealth"? The reason I think predictions are silly, is that the voting process varies so much from show to show. The SAG participants vote for the best actor and the person with the most votes win. But, the Oscars requires voters to rank their list, and the person ranked the highest most frequently wins. For example Meryl Streep could get the most academy votes in a year, but still loose if Nicole Kidman was ranked in first position more frequently.
