That was interesting. I'm glad to see someone talking in more detail about the 1937 film, which is usually all but ignored. It's also interesting to read about how male-identified the new version is because I've seen so much focus in recent times on Bradley Cooper, how unfair everyone has been to him, how he deserves to win for Best Actor because he was the true "transformation" of the category, and so on. It feels like this has become more and more of an open vanity project for him, with Gaga left in the dust.

That was a very good read - I'm glad the person didn't seem to be an [!@#$%^&*], as many Academy voters are in these writeups.

I've heard enough praise for Richard E Grant the last week that I wonder if he's going to end up winning.

I wonder. I haven’t seen Can You Ever Forgive Me? But you’d think the BAFTA voters would have awarded him if he had a chance. Who knows, though? Withnail and I is one of my favorite films, and I’d love to see him acknowledged for his fascinating, offbeat career. And Mahershala has his Oscar.

I probably put too much stock into these types of reports, or positive writeups. They may just be writing a lot about Grant and his great journey and his love of the Oscar season, and so on, because they have nothing else positive to talk about (the Gaga story fizzled out months ago).

We'll probably have the most predicted winners win in the end, although I have a feeling they won't give Regina King hers, which would be a shame.

Another Honest Oscar Ballot!  This one's a great read, and not as bitter as the THR one.

There's a rumor/conspiracy theory floating around re: Whoopi Goldberg. Apparently, she's been absent from The View since around the time they announced her as a presenter for the show (they claim she's sick). Could it be...could she be a surprise host?!

Personally, I thought she was a fantastic host. Her most recent gig at the 2002 Oscars, when she came down from the rafters as Satine from Moulin Rouge.

    • Yes, I said some stupid things but I did not act on them.
    • I believe Jagger said Stone was in an assisted living community and thriving.  So Jagger wasn't exactly a part of his day-to-day life.  We know absolutely nothing about Stone's mother besides that it's not Karen, so it's possible she's more involved.  On Nightshift it did seem like he was the main caregiver though.
    • And, in fact, that is exactly what I did do, offered a sincere apology, and a year went by without it happening again & during that time I paid an unbelievably high price. And, during that time I did not speak of it. I did not offer a defense. I just took my lumps. I had been too upset to discuss it. I believed that I would not be believed. And, now I have finally made one statement & your interpretation of my actions is that I come back with excuses, defenses & distortions - whatever the heck that means - and, yes, some people choose not to believe me when I have been nothing but truthful ... forever.  So, your statement that all I needed to do was apologize, sorry, not what happened.
    • I wonder what happened to Jagger's son?  BTW, did Jagger ever go back to the Bay Area to see his son the entire time he lived in Port Charles?
    • Just because Taggert is so anti Sonny I don't see that working for Lois. I agree with all this.   I still thought Harrington was decent.  He was just completely wrong for the role.  Weirdly being hung up on Karen and Stone was a strange choice too.  They've been dead for years and years and he wasn't married to Karen when she died in a car accident and didn't even show up to Stone's funeral.   Correct and Donna is acting like she didn't PM people like me this info about Drake months before he passed away.
    • Wagger was so bizarre. I still don't care about that dude and I knew what would happen to him from the beginning. But it is crazy they pretend like it didn't matter Sonny stone cold killed a fed. I'm sure they will pick it up in a year or two to try to save face and make it important for some other plot point, like how they forgot all about Austin, Nikolas shooting Hayden and letting Shawn take the fall, etc. He was mediocre and folks acted like he was Douglass Watson because of that one Mulcahey speech! The answer here is the same one to anyone who is familiar with Donna from BITD: She implicitly believes she unofficially works here and has a position of authority in fandom. She does not.
    • I would much rather see Lois with someone young and exciting over being with Taggert.  Rick Webber Jr or have a scandalous affair with Dillon Quartermaine.  Tracy would lose her mind.
    • Well, of course, it's unlikely. But in the what-if fantasy world, I wonder if the actors/characters would work well together.
    • I was thinking at some point down the line the show might bring Stone Jr. (2.0?) to PC and avenge his father's unsolved murder or something. I don't know who that Jagger was either.  Strange casting.  The actor was all wrong for the part even if I thought Adam Harrington could act.
