I'm glad to see someone talking in more detail about the 1937 film, which is usually all but ignored. It's also interesting to read about how male-identified the new version is because I've seen so much focus in recent times on Bradley Cooper, how unfair everyone has been to him, how he deserves to win for Best Actor because he was the true "transformation" of the category, and so on. But you’d think the BAFTA voters would have awarded him if he had a chance. Who knows, though? Withnail and I is one of my favorite films, and I’d love to see him acknowledged for his fascinating, offbeat career. They may just be writing a lot about Grant and his great journey and his love of the Oscar season, and so on, because they have nothing else positive to talk about (the Gaga story fizzled out months ago). There's a rumor/conspiracy theory floating around re: Whoopi Goldberg. Apparently, she's been absent from The View since around the time they announced her as a presenter for the show (they claim she's sick). Could it be...could she be a surprise host?! Personally, I thought she was a fantastic host.
