Even though the idea of Devon being a walking contradiction doesn't bother me, it would be bad writing if the next time we see them, we are being forced to believe that one kiss negates everything that led to their separation. And having this tremendous lag time is forcing the viewers to guess whether or not, the writing will acknowledge that Devon and Hillary's marriage is still on the brink of divorce. I've been complaining about pacing for over a month with Lauren's Fenmore's story. I'm glad to see I'm no longer the only one who sees this how much of a problem this is. @ajsp35801 I'm about done (done, I tell you!) with the "Is it real or is it fantasy?" device. It's so overused and often used badly. The pacing is terrible.

February 24, 20179 yr Author Member Nikki was seen in sexy bathing suits (not a bikini, though) at least as late as 1998. 23 hours ago, Soaplovers said: Thats why I liked how once Alden took over...Nina dated a great looking guy for awhile. There wad even one episode where she was sitting at crimson lights eith the guy and remembering her teen years (with flashbacks of her and chris)...while she saw Tricia looking insecure and unsure of herself...and said she was happy where she was now. I thought it was a subtle way of showing that Nina was better off without ryan..and seeing tricia in the same boat reaffirmed that. I recall the last few months of nina's original stint how much victoria tried to get her to intervene with ryan and tric8a..with Nina joking that they could all form a ryan mcneil's ex wives club. I liked how alden mostly wrote nina better then how bill bell did...imho Yes! Alden wrote terrific material for Nina. She matured tremendously during her time, was re-positioned on the canvas in a way that made sense and was useful, overcame her insecurities, found professional success, and was about to embark on a huge story if it weren't for Cast's exit. God, how I wish she hadn't left! 23 hours ago, Soapsuds said: Your opinion is wrong....LOL. William J. Bell > Kay Alden. Nina came from the streets. She never had a friend or any family to support her so of course she was going to met one loser after another. I am sure later on Bell would've had Nina met the great guy type. Alden is no where near Bell's league in writing. Shame on you for saying that....LOL In terms of Nina, especially from 1996 on, Alden's material for Nina (and a lot of others) WAS better than Bell's last years. That's not taking anything away from him, because he was a genius, and Alden is not on that level. But she came damn near close. 11 hours ago, DeeeDee said: Jess Walton never received her rightful accolades for that story (Byrne and Lucci's first Emmys and a couple of Flannery's Stephanie-era Emmys rightfully belong to Jess). Which was a virtual tour de force for her AND Jill. I only recently realized Jess was up for an Emmy, in this instance, for Billy's near-death and could not believe she didn't win. For those few years, she was incomparable. 7 hours ago, Cat said: he flashed his naked backside to camera. It was considered groundbreaking back in the day, but was sadly never repeated. At least we got to see Brad's () though lol 7 hours ago, Darn said: Mac and Billy are why I started watching. I believe my first episode was the prom one, Billy and Mac kissed at the mansion, Jill saw and she proceeded to eviscerate Mac. All I could think was "Why is this lady being so MEAN to this girl?" and why is this one scene better than everything I'd ever seen in a soap before (I thought the only soaps that existed were on ABC)? While Jill didn't see (Mac would be dead), I still remember getting goosebumps as the camera slowly panned to reveal Jill was standing behind Mac -- I nearly screamed. It was terrific drama. Jill was in her darkly bitchy best. Edited February 24, 20179 yr by YRBB

One of the first Y&R episodes I ever saw was Doug Davidson (back in 1987/88) in a bedroom scene with some woman called Farren, and he flashed his naked backside to camera. It was considered groundbreaking back in the day, but was sadly never repeated. The pic that Lauren sent to the mags didn't leave much to the imagination either.

Paul explicity said that the pictures were for her eyes only but Lauren went behind his back and had them published in that mag contest...LOL.

February 25, 20179 yr Member No comments on today's show? Crickets chirping....LOL Another boring episode.....vets on but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Now Scotty is being held for ransom. Sally stinks as HW. We know he won't be hurt or killed so why all this mess? I guess the Fenmore story is over? No stories continue.

They did have an ass shot or partial with Paul when he was with Christine, and then some primetime nudity with Jack and Brad, but it never went anywhere.

I can't remember who he was with because I was busy picking up my jaw off the ground! I was also a kid so late 80s Y&R is a bit of a blur. Oooooooo Primetime Nudity! Before 2001 that was actually a thing, but I feel like we regressed since then. Nowdays, soap love scenes seem rushed and perfunctory.

These days we mostly get CW-style generic abs and grunty faces rather than actual steam. Either that or HBO trying to show us how hot and wild rape is. As for soaps - they're so far behind the times that material from the '60s had more heat.
