Your opinion is wrong....LOL.  William J. Bell > Kay Alden.  Nina came from the streets. She never had a friend or any family to support her so of course she was going to met one loser after another. I am sure later on Bell would've had Nina met the great guy type. Alden is no where near Bell's league in writing. Shame on you for saying that....LOL

For me it wasn't that Nina needed to meet a great guy as I just wanted her to move beyond stories about being and feeling worthless. The Ryan and Tricia story and the stuff with Victoria and Cole and Ryan was just so much and so OTT and for me eroded a lot of the strength that had been built into the character as the years had passed. It just made me feel sick watching it at the time.

I have seen zero comments on MTS's size on this board. However, I'm not obsessed with reading every single post, and I have also put a few posters on ignore.

I wasn't talking about recently, since she's relatively thin now. This was a couple of years ago and it stood out to me because she was clearly in the matriarch role at that point.  I'm not even saying you are wrong about body shaming being a bad thing. You'll be hard pressed to find a post of mine talking negatively about anyone's body.  I've blocked people who are relentless about it, but I do think context matters. When the show actively tries to sell someone as "beefcake" the opinions are going to fly. I guess I just find it a lot worse when people are dragged daily just for being who they are.

Anyway, moving on. Today's show was decent. I liked the Noah and Nikki scenes, although I wonder what the point is of Nikki letting part of the truth about Dylan slip. Is this going somewhere or is this just so Noah doesn't think Dylan is an ass? Either way, Nikki needs to button it.

I hope Jill sticks to her guns when it comes to dumping Colin. I'm so ready for him to leave. I just had a horrible thought, which is Colin and Gloria hooking up. They are birds of a feather, so I could see that happening.

I like this new direction Sharon is taking. I'd like to see her be emotionally independent and even helping others for awhile.

Was WJB still writing during the whole Ryan/Tricia stuff? I didn't care for that story at all. Maybe it was because I had no investment in either character. It seemed like a rehash of Nina and David without the mental illness of Tricia.

He wrote the triangle when Nina was going to blow her brains out. He began to step back after that when they moved more into the Ryan/Tricia relationship.

Ah...wasn't sure if he was still writing at the time. I hated Tricia and her whole family. I didn't care for the addition of the family to the cast. IMO that's when Y&R started slipping slightly ratings wise and stories.  I had forgotten about the Nina stuff. Probably because I hated the story all together.

These scenes I do remember....

I agree with your assessment.

It's just being realistic to acknowledge that when someone is ripping their shirt off, it doesn't exactly say, "value this person's various cerebral qualities". We can elevate our minds and discussion when the material demands it but in some cases, it simply 'it what it is'- sometimes I have to face the facts that it's not Shakespeare.

I also hope that this direction Sharon is taking is a lasting one. So many writers have claimed that they were taking the character in a more self-reliant direction only to submerge her back into a pitiful state of being. It was good to hear Sharon say the words but I'm going to be watching to see how the character is written and how Sharon actively pursues this new direction.

I'm not the board's chief policeman.

I am not offended, I am not 'folks', I simply stated my opinion, pointing out I have the utmost respect for the posters over here. I asked a question in a non-confrontational way. My only goal was to have some healthy discussion -- are you able to have such a thing?

I have seen zero comments on MTS's size on this board. However, I'm not obsessed with reading every single post, and I have also put a few posters on ignore.

Fair enough, I see your point.

You can see some changes taking place with that curvy actress who's going to play Barbie for example. Marketing move? Maybe. But I think it would be nice if we as viewers set the example. I just thought the board was above that, but nevermind me waltzing in, I know this is slightly off-topic and pedantic, I guess it just mattered to me.

First, I'll answer your question to @VeeVee is basically our version of Shirley McClains character from 'Steal Magnolias'.

Anyway, as much as I lean towards realism, to the point that DG's body didn't bother me, I must say that 'sex sells'.  TV is in the business of money and hod bods are the best and cheapest way of doing it.  Not to mention that it DOES provide a bit of escape, which, I feel is healthy.

Hell, If Im bored of the porn I have I always find pics of Josh Morrow shirtless.  He's like a decadent candy bar that can only be found in an upper class store of country in a continent not of ones own.  He is to be used sparingly.  At the risk of sounding like LindaTno1 he is Gods gift to the world.  Him and JT.

I think if Joshy-poo and Jason Thompson appeared shirtless and sweaty in a scene together I'd have a seizure.

At any-rate, and to shorten my answer, don't be a stuck up prude.  Nobody likes that ESPECIALLY on a soap board.

'Our.' Don't try to keep up.

We all realize you've found your sex drive. No one cares. After a million years of Soapsuds' gross posts no one can be bothered.

Some belated observations...

The lighting on HD is unforgiving to the older actors. They need to soften things somehow.

Lauren's hysterics over Scott didn't work for me. The character has never had any presence on the show so there was no connection to her emotions. Suddenly he is some kick ass journalist in war zones? Really?

Obviously he will be fine and end up in GC,, which then goes against that whole set up.

Victoria/AH is not working ON ANY LEVEL as mother, businesswoman, love interest etc Can they not see that???

Like RA as Noah-very natural and relatable but as Nick and Sharons son? Sorry no.

The sets need work. Victoria's house is awful-those green walls.

And Lauren needs to haul down that metal leaf wall decor- Home Depot stopped selling them years ago.

I thought the same about Nikki/Noah.  I wonder if he's getting story from it?

That at is a horrible thought, J!  lol

I really really really want TR to go back to GH.  I've never liked Colin.  He's an underdeveloped, shallow character full of cliches and plot points.  Buh bye.

I hope this is an actual change for Sharon, but just the other day she was staring a hole through Chelsea.  It might just be a put on to show Chels that they share a lot of history.  The way she was talking about Noah was a lil funky.

The writing for Victoria is essentially what you would get in a fan fiction where you can just pretend Heather Tom is playing the role or an actress of your choice is playing the role. It isn't written with AH or her very limited range in mind, and it shows.

In theory the idea of just writing Victoria how you want and throwing it to the actress is a good one, but onscreen...it does not work.

As no one wants to recast, it's goodbye time for Victoria IMO. The sooner the show realizes it the better.
