Married the First Year debuted with a dismal 21 share. However it still beat NBC's notorious bomb Supertrain, which had a 19 share.

Ironically, Married the First Year seems more in line of Family and perhaps the original vision of Knots Landing. It really seems like David Jacobs wanted to do these twee kitchen sink dramas, but was just steered towards night time soaps since that's what the audience actually wanted.

I'm surprised he didn't do more of these shows in the late 80s/early 90s when thirtysomething, China Beach and similar shows took off on ABC. He did do Paradise I guess, and produced Homefront. Still, I'd think a drama similar to thirtysomething would've been right up his alley.

Some of these British TV magazines did illustrations for soap characters. This one is particularly striking.

I almost went, but I only wanted to meet Joan Van Ark so I decided against it. I am kinda regretting it seeing how fabulous she looks there. One of these days I do hope to meet her at one of these events.

Apologies if this has been posted before. It's apparently the promo Lorimar used when the show entered off-network syndication. I do love a good narrated trailer, don't you?

What a trailer! That was so much fun to watch, thank you.
