An especially poignant statement to make on today, of all days.

I wonder whether Netflix's restrictive contracts will impact their status of being near the top of the list for creatives.  I'm sure the money has a lot of appeal but for those who regard themselves as unwavering artists...well, artists value freedom.  I know that this has changed the way that I see Netflix a vehicle for creative works.

Well, I also read that CBS itself offered to buy As The World Turns but P&G refused.  I could never understand P&G's attitude.  It wasn't like they feared competition for other shows, they were the veritable 'dogs in the manger'.

Well, they're struggling internally so maybe they should've taken that network money for their shows.  (*shrugs*)

I agree, but just how big is that fanbase? I adore the show and keep waiting every day to see it was picked up somewhere. Broadcast seems a stretch to me, personally. But I'd love it. I just don't know if there's this fight over it some think :/

It's pretty damning on them, personally, that they won't release it to be able to go somewhere else (of course it can go to broadcast and cable). I've had a bad taste for Netflix for a while now, personally. They still have some great content, but ehhh ... lol

I don't see them buckling but they should. CBSAA *really* wanted it and it would have been a really good get for them. I can't see it on primetime broadcast. I wish I could. I'd be beyond thrilled. (I guess I only can't because it's not the norm at all for streaming to move to broadcast, it's usually broadcast/cable moving to streaming, so this would likely be a first, no?)

I think Netflix has discovered half hour multi-cam sitcoms aren't being binged enough for them, they have a certain formula that works for them. I have no doubt the viewership is there. And I have no doubts they can afford the show ...

It does give them a bad look (Netflix was "everyone's savior!!!!!") But they probably hope it blows over as everyone gushes over their latest big name project.

    • The Gio apology tour is getting very annoying and boring really fast.
    • I can't believe sweet and innocent Sarah Whiting would call Evie Stone a "tramp" and Wendy Carter a "slut"!

    • Xander and EJ are villains.  I don't like them being written as romantic leads.  My opinion.
    • And those two couples cover all the main families on the show. As long as good story is happening than I'm happy to continue on with them together.
    • Wake me up when Phyllis stops being the centre of the show again. Haven’t these writers learned from their mistakes? They want her to be a heroine so bad. Sharon is being used to prop up Phyllis once again by making her seem jealous over her and Nick having an intimate moment. Wtf? Why would Sharon care? it’s Phyllis’ world and everyone is just living in it. Gagggggggg
    • So there we have Lily and Damian in the same clothes, so the same day having 2  meet ups in different venues. Just about sums up the show and I'm sure there was a lot of talk about business. And they make NO effort to cover up that CL has no customers. I would feel uncomfortable sitting in an empty space. And anyone who wants to defend that set after looking at those pics, go ahead. Sharon must be losing a fortune on that place, maybe that's why she's decided against an update. For some reason,CL loses out on having extras. At least the other venues might have 4 or so people milling around.
    • Yes a mark on the fridge from him cleaning is essentially leading to a break up. I don’t even like Derek but Ashley is an ass.hole.
    • I read somewhere that Prior to Estelle's Return the character was played on flashbacks by Linda Cook, is it true? I have no idea where to look to see if that's true PS: love Linda Cook but Domini Blythe was a find as Estelle Kendall, loving her!
    • TPTB are dragging out the Alexander Dumas reveal way to long.  We really aren't any closer to knowing who he is than we were months ago when his name was first mentioned,  I really don't mind a lengthy soap opera plot, in fact I kind of prefer them.  But this is crazy.  Give us some hints, give us some red herrings, give us some cryptic evidence.  And for God's sake, show us who he is.  And it BETTER be good...   But knowing this head writer, I doubt the reveal will be anything exciting.  Just another outside force coming into town to cause trouble.   I hope I'm wrong.
    • The only Camden kid I liked was Mary... and I don't know if Jessica Biel would want to go back to playing that character or not.
