Members Chris B
We suspected it, but Pratt is leaving Y&R and going to Primetime: http://tvline.com/2016/09/13/chuck-pratt-showrunner-star-lee-daniels-fox/ This is good news for Y&R and good news for Pratt who I do feel is fine in a primetime writing gig, but just does so poorly on daytime soaps. What do you all think? Mal's biggest move so far will be in who replaces him. This will be make it or break it time for him.
Members sheilaforever
Super curious as to what happens next!!! Maybe he will pair some old Bill Bell school blood with someone from the UK?
Members YRBB
OMFG YAAAAAAAAS. Exciting. Thrilling. I hold no hope but... this is the best chance the show has had in ages to do something right.
Members soapfan770
Dear God in Heaven Thank You!!! This is definitely going to be a make or break for Y&R we can only hope to go down the right direction from here.
Members cassadine1991
I'd love that
Members edgeofnik
It's a win-win. Pratt gets an OTT show and Y&R will hopefully get someone who can writer more consistent stories.
Members YRBB
If the respect and 'knowledge' he's shown for classic Y&R is anything close to real, instead of the usual lip service Y&R's execs and writers trot out to pacify the audience, then this, or something close to it, is exactly what he will do. I won't say her name, y'all know it, but I hope she will be submitting yet another bible for the show she (majorly) helped build up.
Members DRW50
He's going to work with Lee Daniels? So much for my belief Daniels knew about what makes soaps work. I tend to wonder how much control anyone but Sony will have over the writing hire. I wouldn't be surprised if Josh Griffith popped up again. Members ChitHappens
UpChuck is trash and so is Daniels. This will be a mess!
Members YRBB
lol I was thinking poor STARS is f.cked! I don't know about control but didn't we hear JFP was able to basically bulldoze Pratt into the position? If he's going to make a good choice, I hope history repeats itself! lol
Members sheilaforever
Oh. This could definitely happen. He left because of Maria (who pushed him out). I don't consider him Y&R material though. So, please no.
Members Chris B
Jamey Giddeons said Daytime Confidential is working on the story, but he's hearing Sally Sussman Morina is the new Headwriter.
Members NothinButAttitude
Lee Daniels is f-cking stupid to hire Pratt. I guess he doesn't want Star to be a success. I give it one season with Pratt at helm. I hope whoever replaces him fixes Y&R even though I think it is impossible at this point.
Members ChitHappens
Look at megahit Empire. That could have been epic for years. Crashed and burned at the end of S1!
Members JONNYSBRO
Well for Pratt this is a major promotion. Lee Daniels Empire is huge for FOX and Star is very buzzed rumored to air after Empire. Pratt has a primetime resume so not surprised hes exiting YR for this gig. Plus his buddy Jill left so it makes sense. YR needs a new head writer. Empire didnt crash and burn its still by far the highest rated show on network tv and in demos.
