If Jean and Shelly are the ones on their way out, my dream scenario would be to just promote Liz Korte and have her (realistically) be the one to finish up the show. There are still people who would be upset by her "Carly rules, Liz drools" approach to writing, but the show would have a much better chance of looking like its old self as it prepares to end, whenever that actually is. It's not like they have much more to lose now.

But I know this probably won't happen.

As long as Frank is there the show will not have a good ending. OLTL didn't.

I don't mean to sound dumb, but Claire Labine is retired now isn't she? Would it ever be too much for her to come back to GH?

The last couple of interviews I read with her make it pretty clear she is tired of dealing with the whims of a network.  Plus I don't feel like a daytime audience would support her writing at this point.  Which is sad.

hmm....I don't blame her if that's the case.

Last time I saw Claire Labine it was when she appeared on SoapTalk in about 2004 or so and it was sad to see. She started crying talking about her favorite Ryan's Hope characters she use to write for.

Not sure about the showrunner, but hopefully it's Pratt since he's co-EP or he is the scribe described in the blind item. As for Jill Farren Phelps she actually turns 66 this summer which is retirement age so she may be very well on her way out at as well.

Does it matter anymore who's about to be fired (or who isn't)?  Networks will micro-manage these shows into the ground no matter WHO is in charge.

Also, why are DC and others still putting out blind items in a four-soap universe?

I would LOVE for Sheri Anderson to come back to Days as headwriter. That said, I've also heard she won't come back unless it's her terms (no network meddling, etc.)

YMMV, but I didn't mind the ending of OLTL that much.

There were a few nice ideas, like the return to Heaven, but between the horrible last scene and Ron's sad ego wank with Fraternity Row, it felt very little like anything I ever thought OLTL stood for.

I think the unstable soap writer is Higley and I think they will bring in Sally Sussman to finish out Days final few months on the air.  Frank is the one going. Sony loves Jill; when she leaves and it could also be at the end of this year, it will be voluntary retirement and Mal Young will be named EP.  I thin that's why he was hired anyway.  The shape up or ship out writers are Shelly/Jean, of course.  Brad Bell isn't going anywhere and Pratt's ratings have been good.

Again DAYS has been renewed

Only for one year and they are writing story 8 months in advance.  The show will be off the air after Sept 2017.  If they fire Higley, just means they need a headwriter for about six months

you are saying this like they won't get another renewal

Why do you think it would? It's terrible.

I am not so sure this is FV they are talking about.   For starters of the exec producers currently working, would he be the one they would label a veteran?  Compared to who?

Next, I don't know that GH is having such dramatic ratings troubles that they would want to fire him.   It does about 2.0 or 2.1 consistently,  and this is the network that had to see 1.6s before they would fire Guza.   The demos I am not sure about.

Third, would ABC even bother at this point?   If the show was at a point where they needed shake-ups wouldn't they just cancel it and put on a chat show?

Seriously? FV has been an EP for 13 years, and he's run GH for about 5. I think it's equally likely Pratt and CBS/Sony finally pushed out Jill, but Frank is a veteran EP, period.

If ABC were determined to replace FV as EP at GH, then that would suggest they remain at least partially invested in their show -- which I have a tough time buying, for some reason.  Yes, GH remains on the air, and at ABC, but only b/c they haven't lucked upon anything good to replace it.  Otherwise, as far as they're probably concerned, Frank could be there to turn out the studio lights for the last time.
