GH Casts New Nurse

Amy was on the tribute wall during the GH 51st anniversary episode with all the dead Qs and other hospital characters from the past like Tony Jones and the Dr. Steve Hardy.

I'm not saying recycle characters lol!  But I'm saying it's time to start reinventing characters with the similar characteristics and personalities.  I'm hoping that the nurse, Amy, is Amy's daughter!  That would be a great tribute to the original character and actress.  It's just time to start looking at the past and yes making it modern, but get the soaps back to there glory where we were vastly entertained and invested.

That's recycling! Especially when its the children of another character.

Not really. This all sounds like yet another example of the current writers' lack of originality. At the very least, provide this recycled character a different name. I'm all for adding more characters to the hospital setting, and making greater use of the existing hospital-based characters, but this doesn't sound promising.

If she's as bad a gossip as Amy, she'll be gone faster than the hospital can say "HIPAA regulations."

What am I saying? This is GH where nobody producing or writing has a lick of common sense.

Risa%20Dorkin.jpgToday marks the first GH appearance of GH newbie Risa Dorken, who plays the role of Nurse Amy, a character who is an homage to Nurse Amy Vining, the long-running character played by the late Shell Kepler. Reports Minnesota native Dorken, “I’ve gone back and looked at old footage of her, but I’m not imitating her. It’s not supposed to be her, but it’s definitely a wink in her direction.” The actress is thrilled to have landed on the show her late grandmother was devoted to. "Every time I drive to the lot, you see the actual General Hospital sign, and just seeing that gives me butterflies in my stomach. I have to pinch myself that I’m actually there!” For more with Dorken, see the issue of Soap Opera Digest on sale now.

At least she seems excited to be there, and actually watched clips of the original Amy.  I am happy to not read the words learning opportunity and a great place to learn my craft.

I liked her, I guess. Nice to see an actress that isn't a stick figure, though. I do lol at her being like an encyclopedia on the gossip and history of Port Charles.
