Risa Dorken will make her GH debut on May 4 as a new hospital staffer named Amy. Both Amy's name and personality bear quite a resemblence to Amy Vining, the long-running nurse played by the late Shell Kepler; Amy is described as “a spunky new nurse who just can’t help herself from gossiping and putting her nose in other’s business.”

This sounds good. She could be Amy Vinings daughter. Someone for Laura to interact with. I like how they building the hospital staff back up.

She'll have Pet #1 (McBain - Stephen - Silas - Finn) and Pet #2 (Griffin) to talk to. And Elizabeth. And Obrecht. And Felix. And Lucas if they give him airtime.

The hospital needs fleshing out. It's been nice seeing Monica more and they're bringing Piph out of the attic again ...

But she could be a nice nod to the original Amy.

I love it!  And it's about time!  It's time for the soaps on air to start reinventing the wheel so to speak...what I mean by this is where the next characters to carry the soap forward like those past characters did.  Where's the next Alan and Monica?  Rick Webber? Luke and Laura? Edward and Lila? Scotty? Sean? Tiffany?  Anna and Robert? Frisco and Felicia? and so forth.  I could go on and on, lol!  But I'm looking for that Alan/Monica/Rick/Leslie quadrangle type story that drove much story back in the day.  Where are my next WSB agents and going up against the Asian Quarters.  I think   Where are my next Steve and Audrey Hardy?  I just think it's about time to bring forward our vets more and when casting new characters or characters who have connections to legacy characters establish them better with backgrounds and story.  I'm not saying reincarnate the same storylines, but I am saying to craft storylines that possess similarities and pull in the fans like it once used to.  The problem with soaps now is they think we don't want to see that type of storytelling anymore, but the reality is we do.  Think about the many prime time shows on air now that are pushing the envelope with danger, romance, sex, passion, deceit, and so much more.  We all understand that daytime is limited with going to racy and provocative, but daytime soaps used to be racy and provocative on different levels.  This casting is a move in that direction.

I remember Amy being a gossip and very quirky.  I loved her character for that personality and it added so much to the show and hospital then.  I hope they do the character justice and write her correctly.  I hope that she is the daughter of Amy Vinings and interacts alot with Laura.  I hope that she becomes a best friend to Liz.  What I don't want them to do right away is throw her into a romance.  I like the attention being put into the hospital and I hope it continues.  Make the hospital the focal point again where many storylines and romances happen.  Make Port Charles the main character again where the citizens of Port Charles interact with the city and not the other way around.  Oh yeah I like the Dr. Monroe, Duke's son!

It's also disrespectful to Shell Kepler - was her death ever even mentioned (like an "in memory" card)?

I hope they have Laura or Bobbie say, "You remind me of someone," and leave it at that.

They are waiting for Shonda Rhimes or Greg Berlanti to give them a call, because God knows no one in daytime is smart enough to touch them.

I wonder how many smart TVs are made from recycled materials.

    • There are no dumb questions here, we've all known each other long enough to fill in information without shaming each other.  We want you to be happy @carolineg.  Your POV as one of the few women here is vital. So, please, I hope you never feel as if any question, idea, or opinion is ever silly or stupid.
    • I think his full name is Chadwick.  I remember, back when the previous actor was playing him, someone called him Chadwick a couple of times.  It may have been Stefano.
    • I didn't like those two sleeping together, but I suuure liked seeing BF in them. Wiggle and all. Just sad about the waxing of the chest.   Same.
    • It’s strange. I wonder if the writers at that time had worked with him somewhere else and had a relationship? That time is murky AF to find info on. Rachel Ames in effect left the show at one point in the early 80’s and she is credited like she was there until JFP. Tristan Rogers also took various contract breaks that were not short, and websites also credit him one long stint from 1981-1992. So many people come and go in short succession in 1982-part of 1983. I know they lost a lot of viewers when Genie left, but the show somehow survived yearly at number one through like sheer force of will.
    • In that way, at least we were fortunate.  The Daniel Pilon/Ron Raines decisions...not so much.
    • Letting Brennan put it in yet again while smirking over his shoulder... any day now! She's got him just where she wants him! I do think ol' Jack will be dead by February at the absolute latest. They have set him up as a counter-heavy to Sidwell, forcing poor Joss to work his next scheme or threatening to have her sent down for treason. Once he croaks I still deeply fear we will be subject to Valentin and Carly, partners in crime to lovers, possibly out to find out 'who killed Jack'. Anna was at her best keeping Sonny at arm's length and often somewhat cold, which she only really did (for better or worse) off and on during Carlivati's tenure. But Finola gradually got too emotional over Sonny, Jason, etc. and was allowed to do that onscreen too much long ago. Mulcahey brought some of that steel back, though Finola still managed to choke or quietly sob through some of that material as Anna found her way there lol. She's a brilliant actress and she did a good job with that stuff in '24, but now we're back to the same old and it humiliates the character whether she knows it or not.
    • Listen, I am all for Laura Wright wearing silly wigs and glasses if there was a point.  So far she's just been nice to Brennan and made out with him.  How evil lol!!  Even though I have been told Brennan loves her the writing was never there.  It's so low stakes.  Carly should maybe talk to her daughter and have an adult conversation instead. Laura and Anna look foolish.  I really don't have an issue with either being friendly or at least having some affection for Sonny.  I don't get both of them wanting to have a parade to announce how much they love him and how valuable the friendship is.  C'mon, Laura basically tolerated Sonny because of Luke until Lulu/Dante got together.  Anna likes Sonny because Robin did?  There really isn't much more of a reason for Anna to give him the time of day besides that.  They aren't lifelong buddies.
    • It is so dumb and is dragging on already after a couple weeks. By the time Carly wraps this up Joss will be running the local branch office. And yes, Laura deserves better. It's like they tripled down on this Sonny apologia stuff with her and Anna after the Mulcahey saga.
