John, GH was clearly very interested in pushing with him with Molly as the next great white teen couple. He was dumped because he tanked with audiences, because he sucked. And you are correct in that they were interested in pushing Molly and Rafe as the next "hot teen couple" and it failed miserably. Once that bombed, Ron had no interest. It showed.
