Well RE is in a few episodes is sure putting The Vine and Aly to shame. Yes, Nicole is a little OTT, but she has presence and energy. Oh and Carter - how is that you were so in love with Maya that you're the only one who didn't notice she was in distress. Good grief.

Ivy has zero presence IMO. I hate the awful mess that Aly has become. I like Nicole too and I think we are getting more of her sooner than later because of what happened to Linsey.

That's what I think - just like the bizarro/random visit by Katie to Ridge. What? OC, it was about Brooke, but that with all the rehashing of the honeymoon (like you'd talk about that with your ex) was so empty. I hope Nicole makes a play for Oliver or Wyatt, probably the former because it would cause all sorts of angst with Aly and Darla's head.

Oh, and the one flaw with sending Caroline to her 'moms' instead of the Paris or Milan office - there is NO WAY that Karen wouldn't be going nuts over the fact that Ridge is involved with 2.0. For all the obvious reasons. I so wish they could get JJ even for two episodes to rip it up. Another advantage of Karen v Caroline - Karen is far more like Bill - in a good way. However, I know they had to improvise and rework quite a bit of the show - definitely an advantage that B&B has - so many of the shows are movable because they usually use fewer actors per episode and not as many stories overlap day-to-day as an hour show. I mean the Brooke/Deacon/Quinn/Wyatt stuff could've aired before or after today's show - no difference.

The whole photo shoot too seemed out of place for me. I do think they had to rewrite scripts with Linsey's absence and maybe thats why we are getting so much Brooke and Deacon too. The part of Rick remembering his marriage to Caroline I also felt was added to the script…..todays script looked like a totally rewrite IMO.

Ugh! They played Steffy's theme during the scene of the thot's photoshoot! First her loft and now this. Thirsty Thot is NOT Steffy

So did Nicole drop hint as to what Misery's secret is? When Rick said "the camera adores her", Nicole responded with "no secret there". Im thinking the secret has to do with a camera. Did Misery do porn? I guess it wouldnt make sense how that hasnt leaked given how high profile her job is, but this is B&B after all. Or maybe she was a prostitute?

use her money and power to get her help for what? No one knows that Brooke has a problem except for Deacon and Quinn. Being concerned about how she's coping to being alone is a far cry from what is actually happening with Brooke, which she and most everyone else is oblivious to. They havent spent much time with her in recent weeks

Speaking of which, I do agree that Katie is written stupid. When she was telling Ridge that she had her honeymoon in a place that was special to Bill and Brooke bc she wanted to make her own memories there, she sounded like an idiot. She is such a waste of space

Nicole needs her ass kicked

I think it was more to get the 'secret' dig than anything else. I mean, seriously, porn or prostitute, big deal, she's already done jail time. I suppose it's better than speculation that Maya was born as Mayer. As if. "But it will educate people on the TG community!" And, it will also eliminate B&B's first diverse semi-leading actress in one fell swoop. I still think it has to do with Nicole directly and I'd love it to tie back to that way out-of-left field flashback with Usher. If only they'd drop this Rick/Dick nonsense and focus on Rick/Maya/Nicole/Ridge/Caroline (when she returns) again, I'd be very happy. I don't have much use for any other characters ATM.

I like that the show seemed to (again) refocus a little now that Steffy is gone...(for now)

Nicole is a keeper......like I said I wish down the road they could bring on RJ as a teenager/young adult so they can have someone in her age group, along with Aly and Ivy....

I can't stand Aly

Or Ridge. Or Katie

OMG...when I heard Steffy's "Intimates" line song I was like NOO! STOP. And they played it twice. No.

Brought back good memories tho..."Stop being a good girl" LMAO. I still remember when Steffy was like "Damn, I look good."

LOL! This show gets the BEST angles & reaction shots. Loved the photo shoot. The montages were top notch.

    • Greg Sumner intro in season 5 as the new villain was the finishing touch on Knots Landing going full-on 1980s primetime soap. William Devane had a commanding presence from his first episode, but I don't think he took over the show.
    • Interesting.  Does CHCH have this as an arrangement?  Or is CBS unaware that that CHCH didn't preempt for Memorial Day, and is still ahead?
    • Olivia did have a good reason for what she did. Still, I'd think she would be slower to pass such harsh judgment on Lois since she knows what she herself lived through. I'm hoping we get a softer Olivia when she reflects on everything.   I'm going to disagree with this. I don't think the character has been ruined and trashed, and I don't think it's impossible to come back from this. Yes, a great case can be made that this is out-of-character for Lois, but I can also make a case for people doing out-of-character things when life deals us crazy and impossible moments. Because of the story we're getting from this, I think it was worth putting Lois into this situation.

    • Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum but I have been a soap opera fan for only a few years. I started watching General Hospital in the 2010s on tv due to boredom. It wasn't good but it was okay enough to get curious about the soap opera genre. When I eventually got internet I started researching 90s and 2000s General Hospital. I have started only recently researching 80s and 90s Days of Our Lives. I was shocked when I found out that a black soap opera is going to be made, especially because the genre as a whole was on a downward trajectory. Now here I am as a black woman seeing a soap opera from the start. I'm all for Beyond the Gates succeeding.

    • That was so surprising to me today. I didn’t see any spoilers that this was coming up so I loved it!
    • Well, VI was leaving, and while Long admits that killing him was stupid...I do agree with letting him go with a big bang...body missing.  They spent a lot of time and money on Infinity, (which I think might have gotten a bit of a better reputation had it not been the harbinger of a total tonal change with the Bauers and Reardon's decimated and its all Reva and the Lewis and the weird people hanging out around Kyle) so they needed it to end dramatically. They could have done so much more with having Alex go after Kyle and Billy, but that ends and she starts moping over weird and boring Simon. With Kurt..what were you going to do.. cute but boring and perfect and with ties to no one (they had a nice little thing where Bea took him under her wing when everyone left but then she did too..) If they had the balls they would have had Rick and Mindy jump in the sack ( I know, Mindy should have learned birth control by then) I would have had it be Mindy who knows about Rick's drug use and she tries to help him...(not that nobody who came and went) of course, Kurt and Roxie misunderstand..that on top of her bad Sampson Girl thing leaves him to leave her temporarily, and in grand soap tradition, Rick and Mindy console each other (again, I would write it that they always really did, and Mindy rushed into things with Kurt) and she gets knocked up, and loving Rick but also Kurt she chooses to believe it is Kurts (which I could see Princess Mindy doing "My life is perfect and I will it that way, this is Kurts kid")But, she had the dumb model thing, then she burned down the house he was building, she tried to get prefers and he dies (but also Kobe was the one who built him up, then she was gone when he was let go.) Ross believe it or not is one of the last of the "old guard" characters, beside Ed (who is now FauxEd) and Maureen, and Henry and Van (who is ties to being the Lewis family mope.) JVD has made jokes that they didn't write him out as they simply forgot that he was there! Reva doesn't even call her mother when she comes back! I never saw the use of Sarah but they could have reunited them and sent her and Hawk out of town together. Hell, I don't like the Shaynes but she should have mentioned Roxie and Rusty.  The weird thing is that Dylan had a ton of story and was very important to the Van/Bridget baby custody story. By the time Reva comes back Dylan had only been gone a year so its not like people wouldn't know him..( I liked him and Bridget together...) So he comes back in 97 and acts like it's no big deal Reva is alive so they must have talked off camera. But Reva was too busy squacking about that annoying toothy Marah and blank Shayne to talk about anything else.  It's not quite as weird as Van, who obsessed over Peter, comes back to SF and never mentions him...i.e. "I saw Peter this weekend and he so barely remembers me but he is happy with Bridget and Dylan...")
    • Excellent! The OLTL-GH promo places this and the RH episode (which I assume aired directly before this AMC) as airing during the week of Aug. 20.
