February 7, 201511 yr Member I would expect you to be outraged that a convicted child molester's music is played at every sporting event in the country. You didn't know. Now you do. I know exactly why you don't care. You don't take delight in his downfall nor care that his music is so prevalent in this country because he's not a political or social enemy of yours, that's why. And if he's TOTALLY irrelevant, and NOBODY knows who he is, why is USA today reporting on it? http://www.usatoday.com/videos/news/nation/2015/02/05/22927573/ You are absolutely right. I do not know who this man is and I never knew about this case until right now. I really dont have the energy to get as worked about this as you are. Why should I? This guy has been convicted and he will go to jail for his heinous crimes. Justice has been served. Good for him and all those victims. As we know, other sex offenders get away scot free and will never have to go to court for their crimes. I have political and social enemies? and USAToday reporting on this doesnt change the fact that the man is irrelevant to today's people. Obviously there are alot of old timers like you who know who this is. To the general public of today, thats really no different than reporting on some random Joe Doe Edited February 7, 201511 yr by Cheap21
February 7, 201511 yr Member Gary Glitter is widely known in the UK, and his career was destroyed there. Gary Glitter had one hit in the US. Many years ago. I would imagine 99% of the people in the US listening to that song have no idea who sang it. If they did, maybe they'd demand it be pulled. They don't. I'd venture to guess most people go to these games don't know anything about the people who sang the songs to begin with. Do you think if you asked someone at a game to tell you who sang "Who Let The Dogs Out?" they could tell you? Hell, most of them probably don't even know who sang "We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You."
February 7, 201511 yr Member I'll admit that I actually DID know who Gary Glitter was, and that it does sometimes taint my enjoyment of "Rock n Roll Part 2" (the official title of the "hey" song), and knowing about Pete Townshend's child porn charges from the late 90's bothers me too (and the Who is one of my favorite bands of all time), but keeping it just at the Gary Glitter stuff, Bill Cosby is an icon. Of course he's going to have a bigger impact here. Who the phuck is Gary Glitter? Is he some kind of Ozarks celebrity? My family is from the Ozarks area of Arkansas. I don't know...I'm sensitive when it comes to making fun of Southerners, there are some perfectly wonderful, intelligent people from there, including my parents. Not to harsh the vibe here, of course.

You're pissed off because none of us got angry about news we didn't know about someone we never heard of because a song we don't know is played at events we don't attend. I respectfully request that you let us out of your head because obviously we aren't getting nearly enough air or light in there. My family is from the Ozarks area of Arkansas. Just to be clear I'm not making fun of Southerners, I'm making fun of Alphanguy specifically. In another thread he claimed that he's representative of people from the Ozarks. (There's a lot of context missing but I don't have the stomach to revisit the whole conversation.) My mother comes from country people. I don't make fun of them. February 7, 201511 yr Member I know who Gary Glitter is because I was in band in high school, and yes, Rock & Roll Part 2/The Hey Song was definitely a huge part of repertoire. Even then, he was nothing more than a name in the top right corner of the music! To be fair, I don't think anyone here called for TCS to be pulled off the air or for BC's shows to be cancelled. Not many are disputing the decisions made by TPTB in these cases, though, and that's our right. If anyone here actually gave a f!ck about Gary Glitter, then I'm sure it would be the same story. The only difference is that Gary Glitter is irrelevant as f!ck and is already on his way to jail, so what exactly can be taken from him at this point? His song is the icon, not him. On the other hand, Bill Cosby is an entire brand all by himself, with or without TCS. I really can't deal with this sloppy ass troll trying to throw slangs at anyone, though. February 7, 201511 yr Member To be honest, when I first heard the name, I thought it was a porn star. Let me get this straight. Sounds like someone is trying to deflect. You're pissed off because none of us got angry about news we didn't know about someone we never heard of because a song we don't know is played at events we don't attend. No, it's because many posters didn't give a crap, and had no outrage AFTER they found out... because said person wasn't "relevant" to them. If these posters were consistent, they would say.. "I had no idea they were playing a child molesters' song all over the place... what an outrage". But instead, they come up with some stupid retort that is basically designed to just be contrary to me.
February 8, 201511 yr Member I'm not sure where the song is being played. I've heard it on music channels every blue moon, and I'm sure it's played at arenas. I don't go to games, I don't watch sports coverage, so I rarely hear it. Have you contacted your local sporting arenas and asked them not to play the song anymore? Or your local radio stations? What are we supposed to be doing about it?
February 13, 201511 yr Member I really wonder what the final number is. How many women did Cosby do this to. Many of his victims must've passed away by now and others will never come forward so we'll never know but I wonder just how many times he's done this.
