Jack and Eve never had a real marriage. It wasn't consummated, nor was there ever an expectation that it would be.

When Nick Corelli died (he was shot by Jo Johnson, mother of Steve, Jack and Adrienne), he left all his money to Eve. Nick was an ex-pimp turned businessman, and Eve was an ex-hooker who had worked for him. They later became friends and then BF/GF. Eve's love for him dwarfed anything she ever felt for Frankie. But Nick always pushed her away, thinking he was no good for her. That was a recurring theme in couples back then, like Steve&Kayla and Jack&Jen. Eventually, Nick fell in love with April Ramirez, and chose her over Eve. But April loved Mike Horton, and when that ended she still didn't want Nick. She did, however, take an interest in his brother Johnny (who was supposed to trade places with Bo through plastic surgery. He backed out, but he could do an awesome impersonation of Bo's voice).

Nick must have rewritten his will shortly before his death. I still remember Mickey Horton reading: "To my brother Johnny, and my ex-wife April, I leave each other--that's all they deserve, and that's all they are going to get). He then left Eve his money with a caveat. She had to get married and she had to marry for true love. It was up to Julie to determine if she had truly married for love, because Julie had taken Eve under her wing, and was trying to guide her in the right way.

Jack and Eve convinced Julie to release the money. I think the reason was because Lawrence Alamain was threatening to take over the Spectator, and Julie didn't want him to get that base of power. This was when Lawrence was believed to have killed Steve. Jack used the money to buy Diana Colville's part of the Spectator. Diana, who had been played by Genie Francis, was a rival to Jack when he was a villain. But Vern Scofield, who had been her friend, told Jack that she had heard bad things about Lawrence, and would rather sell to Jack.

Eve eventually realized that all the money was gone and Jack still owned the paper, not her. I seem to remember that she confronted Jack and Jen on their honeymoon to tell Jack off. She tipped off Hawk Hawkins to their wealth, after which Hawk moved to Salem and set out to con Jack and Jen. This storyline--"Baby Howie"--laid the groundwork for Jack to lose all his money and no longer being one of the rich characters on the show.

Thanks so much for that! Faking the flashbacks gives the impression that Eve never existed and that they're retconning her into Jennifer's history. They could have just showed a couple quick clips and it would have been perfect. The flashback on Wednesday was ridiculously bad as well.

I don't know why y'all are freaking out when what Julia said is the only thing that happened so far. He's a teen who ran into some hot cougar boobs. He's turned on. Eve showed ZERO sexual interest in all her scenes with JJ so far and it has been very clearly established she loves Paige very much and wants to make things work, which is why when she first showed up at Jennifer's she gave her a hug and pretended everything was OK. Nothing in the way they've written Eve so far goes anywhere near implying that she would sleep with her beloved daughter's boyfriend.

As for the "feud"... again you're overreacting or not paying attention. Eve showed up willing to just let bygones be bygones (although she clearly doesn't like Jen). Jen INSTANTLY started with the condescending behavior, implying that Eve was lying, and so on. Not that I blame Jenn, considering their past, but damn that ho needs to be slapped. However, they both remained relatively polite and, so far, are simply rehashing some past experiences. Big deal. Both characters even mentioned multiple times how long ago it all was. That doesn't mean the feelings can't resurface. My highschool nemesis showing up at my house would send shockwaves down my spine lmao. Give me some actual plot that can reignite their feud and bring it to 2014 and we'll talk. laugh.png

Theresa/Anne! LOL at what she said about Jenn and Daniel and also saying that John seems stupid.

StevieM - thanks for the Eve/Nick revisit as I had forgotten a lot of that stuff. I do remember that Nick goes all the way back to 1984 or 1985 when he was Diane's pimp and he tried to blackmail Larry Welch for money. I think he later ended up working for Victor.

So after a 4 month hiatus, I decided to catch up via youtube. The show on the whole has been insipid but seems to be on a upswing now.

Random thoughts:

- Dannifer still? Seriously?

- I thought Gabbi's confession was done brilliantly but everything leading up to it was rubbish.

- I think I saw Ben#1 for 2 episodes so can't really comment on him, but are we sure Ben#2 is an actual person and not actually a cardboard cut-out of a Ken doll on wheels, voiced by a computer program (given Days budget, it wouldn't surprise)? Wooden doesn't begin to describe his performance, perhaps rocket strength metal wouldn't either....

- Lauren Koslow is still fantastic. Dee Hall and Allison Sweeny have been really good too, surprisingly.

- Neutered JJ and his pug face girlfriend are awful.

- Aiden and Hope are sweet, but going nowhere.

- Sad to say, but it is time to write Nicole off the show - character is way past done. Sucks for AZ though, she is great.

- Dannifer still? Seriously?

- What happened to Sheryl (Jade Harow)? Is she gone?

- Still no movement on Jordan's secret/story? Nothing has happened since I tuned out in February!

- Eve seems nothing like Eve, but I'm enjoying her so far.

- I think nuWill may be worse than the last one, that's an achievement!

- Dannifer still? Seriously?

- Dannifer? Really?

I'm really just here getting ready for Kristen apparently... (plus some Kate).

Its hard to believe that Ben #1 was worst than the one we have right now because I think he makes the guy who plays Nathan look like Al Pacino.

I would have imagined Justin Gaston to fare better as an actor considering he dated Miley Cyrus. Finding nice things to say to that tramp and lookking like you mean it has to be an acting tour de force.
