Y&R: David Tom Fired! Replacement Announced...

Yep. Joan Van Ark was great as Gloria. LML was the end of that.

I can't believe MADD wouldn't let ET film? Um, hello woman, that's called PROMOTION!

Phyllis and Nick were an awful couple who should have been [!@#$%^&*] buddies and nothing more. Selling them as some supercouple made zero sense. Phyllis was and never should be a heroine. Phyllis and Jack were always the couple I thought worked the best. Gina Tognoni should do well in the role but I personally think she's miscast, but I'll wait and see for sure when she begins airing. I'm sure she can put some fire into Phyllis and make the role her own but there's too many recasts going on. Kelly, Phyllis, Billy and eventually Adam? It's a bit much.

Phyllis made the boring Nick interesting. Nick has got to be the most boring character from a main family ever. And if the non-acting JM can be a Newman, then the much more talented AH can as well. I don't get the AH comments about her not being strong enough to play a lead character much less one in a lead family when JM is about the worst actor on the show.

You criticize Heather Tom's acting and in the same post claim Billy Miller & Amelie Heinle have some of the best chemistry you've seen from a couple?

I don't even know if you realize what a HUGE no-no that is. laugh.png

Oh I know its an unpopular opinion but that's just how I feel. I don't think HT is a bad actress....loved her as Katie on B&B (I no longer watch). I just never got into her when she was Victoria and was glad when she was written out.

I agree. But both Sharon and Phyllis need to move on from Nick.

PHICK was nothing more than constant couch humping and lies. I don't see how people make them out to be one of the great love stories in Y&R. Phyllis' true love and best pairing has always been Jack, but how she did him after the original affair with Nick, that romance was tarnished as well.

And in all honesty, as a SHICK fan, I want Sharon away from Nick and the Newmans after the truth comes out. For good. I don't even want her to be paired with an Abbott either. I'd prefer Sharon sow her oats elsewhere with Stitch or maybe Dylan--two men she showed chemistry with, but other than that, Sharon needs a new man (not Newman). I still wish they'd bring back a grown Chuckie Roulland, Brooks Prentiss, and Jennifer Foster and slap Sharon in that orbit.

It would be nice if Sharon could sow her oats somewhere other than Genoa City.

Just like I wish that someone would've pulled the plug on Phyllis ... outside of Genoa City. tongue.png

They probably should rather than recast. I like GT but don't really care for recasts. It will be interesting to see her take on Phyllis....not sure of how she's going to work.

They're relying too much on recasts when they need to be developing new characters. After a while you need to limit the recasts. Adam, for example, is not needed. Give the character a proper rest. Have some creativity and develop a new leading man. Same for Phyllis. Her story came to a natural end and she really isn't needed, so why not just bring on a new character for Gina Tognoni?

Y&R is drowning in both recasts and new characters. If GT wasn't going to be Phyllis, I'd rather they not bring her on at all right now. Take all these new characters and develop them. Give the audience reason to care about them, before bringing on anymore.

This show already has enough new ccharacters leading story. No more is needed. JMO.

Sorry, Chris B, but I have to agree ajsp and Julia. Y&R needs to focus more on the characters already in place rather than on recasts and new characters. Besides, this show's recent track record with newbies has not been the best, IMO.

Oh I actually agree with that, I'm just saying if they HAD to have Gina Tognoni I'd rather have a new character than a recast that is too young and eliminated Phyllis' history. How will she look next to Christine and Danny? Daniel and her granddaughter? Out of all these roles I would've kept David Tom as Billy, left Phyllis and Adam off canvas and they could've recast Kelly with Gina Tognoni. At the very least I would've even accepted Gina replacing Cady as Kelly.

She looks fine next to Christine. LLB is around 45. Daniel is the issue.

Nobody really looks fine next to LB. ph34r.png

That's being generous, IMO. In fact, I think that's being too generous, lol.

I, myself, would have written off Billy and Victoria with the explanation that the two left GC to get a fresh start in a different town. I also would have ditched Kelly fairly quickly, along with this alleged, big secret she shares with Stitch. That way, I could have had Stitch become involved with Sharon.

Oh, yeah, I would have left Phyllis and Adam off-canvas as well. wink.png

+1

But I would've brought GT on as Sharon's friend, Grace. That would've been a role for her right age range.

Well, if I just had to have GT, I guess I would have brought her on as Stitch's ex-wife, Jenna. (And I would have introduced her as the mother of the child a delusional Chloe mistakes for Delia and then abducts -- "Surprise, she lied about moving to Australia!") That way, you still could "test" her w/ Joshua Morrow as part of a Stitch/Sharon/Jenna/Nick quadrangle.

Hasn't the Chloe character been rolled over enough in this story? I don't want her propping another kid and her mother to make them more likable. I got enough of that with Chelserella. LOL
