American Crime: Discussion Thread

AMERICAN CRIME - All over the news are reports about a young couple in Modesto, California, who were attacked in their home. Matt Skokie, a war vet, was killed, and his wife, Lily, is unconscious, barely hanging on. Both sets of parents are at her bedside hoping for a miracle while four suspects are about to be arrested. The case sends shock waves into the community stirring up tensions across racial lines in this gritty drama—from the point of view of the victims.

WHAT | Set in California's Central Valley, it centers on a racially charged murder and the subsequent trial, which are examined through the personal lives of the players involved. The case takes on greater meaning in the community, bringing to the forefront America's hardened views on race, class and gender politics.

Too many murder related shows.

Another mini series stretched to a full season. Expect lots and lots of filler and convoluted plots (see Revenge). However, I anticipate really good performances from this show.

Are you telling me they're going to allow non-stylized exhibits of human emotion on network TV? People still cry alone in the bathroom?

Looks great! Although it seems like it would fit better on a cable network.

I'm glad Timothy Hutton is back on TV. I just wish it wasn't in a rehash of "Murder One."

This is impressive.

Great first episode...

This was insane. Connor Jessup was already pretty good actor, but whoa. He and Lili Taylor were great 

Watching this season because the trailers have been giving me chills. Very interested to see what the "Truth" is at the end of the story. The characters look very intense and real and I love how culturally relevant this is. 

Me too.  Didn't watch last season past the first eppy, but this one has me intrigued.
