Y&R: Recasting

On Twitter I've seen Sarah Brown, Kelly Menighan Hensley (Emily, ATWT) and Martha Byrne mentioned. I know she would NEVER get it, but I wouldn't be against Martha Byrne. I could see her giving us a more nuanced portrayal, similar to Sandra Nelson's version. She was also great on Crisis not long ago, so she's still got it.

Martha Byrne has zero sex appeal. Zilch! KM is not a bad idea. As for Sarah Brown? So far, she's 1 for 4, so I'm not sure she'd work. She does not look the part at all, anyhow.

LOL I thought Martha Byrne had sex appeal as Rose and early in Hogan Sheffer's tenure as Lily. But so far I would say I do love the Kelly Menighan Hensley idea. I heard she was one of the finalists as Kate on GH and I cannot see how Kelly Sullivan won that role over her.

I don't understand why they're going so much younger for Phyllis when she is a grandmother and her primary love interest is 60....

Maybe they are pandering to the fans who wanted someone as young as Hill to be paired with Jack.

Y&R is on a downhill slide and it ticks me off because IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY. As a from day one viewer I take it very personally. It is very insulting.

Compared to MS (or Sandra Nelson for that matter), those would result in epic fails. Not that it won't stop the Y&R's casting director... The only other person I can see as Phyllis is Cynthia Watros.

Are they going to recast everyone over 40 to reset the median range to 40?

How can these women be so flippant and stupid about Y&R ?

I'm not a JFP hater, but she clearly does not like other women of a certain age! She discriminates worse than men. Before Jackie Z butchered her face, Jill said something not so kind about what the audience didn't want to see from a woman her age.

But she friggin' loves these old ass men. WTF! Why!?

What happened, JFP? Did Robin Christopher and Jennifer Bransford turn you down?

The same way TSJ and TP turned down Adam, I suppose.

I think they were smart to turn down that role. If ever there was a role on a soap opera that was "damaged goods"....

What about Cynthia Preston in the role?

I'd rather see her as Kelly.

it's all acting. They cast Caucasian actors in the roles of minorities all the time... I vote: Victoria Rowell as Phyllis. biggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.png

Where is Sandra Nelson???

Avoiding any and all phone calls from the show, probably. From what I read (an exit interview w/ her for SOD, I think), she was bitter toward TPTB at the end of her run.

Honestly, I couldn't count on Jamie Luner to play Phyllis as anything other than a calculating, manipulative bitch. Not that Michelle Stafford's take on the role was any more layered emotionally, but I'm just tired of seeing characters who are one-note with absolutely no depth.
