At least we know why Lucious had a perm in the first episode. I presume that it had to do with that Wayward Pines TV show Howard produced and stars in whose trailer was shown at the end of Empire. Debuts on FOX in May.

Exactly. Baseball would be the worst thing for Fox to program Empire around. If not November, it'll definitely go January. I expect a 15-18 episode order for next season.

Just remembered, Wayward Pines is from M. Night Shyamalan. Yeah, I'm gonna pass. He had me cackling at The Last Airbender, which included the entire theater pissed at the pronunciations of the lead character names. Sorry Terrence. Not even you and your perm can get me to watch a single project from M. Night. PASS!!!

Lucious gone get all those bitches, and I can't wait! JR has been down and out too but it never lasted long!

I'm actually salivating because ALL them bitches got stuff to hide. Rhandre/Vernon, Cookie killed someone, Anika and her crooked daddy! Lucious will reign supreme and I'm here!!!!!

I'm here for Jamal and Dwight being allies against everyone next season!!!! F-ck the World Series. I'm sure Empire will have higher ratings than that anyway.

The set up is actually kind of brilliant. The only honest one in the bunch will side with Lucious and Lucious treated him the worst. Jamal has nothing to hide. The others do. The season literally flipped.

I also think it's a brilliant setup. And it was genius of them not to off Anika. Gealey is too good scheming with the others.

The season finale was a lot.

Lucious is pure evil, without the wicked smile of JR Ewing...he's just bad to the bone and thinks he's God.

Poor Vernon, I loved the actor playing him, such a shame that he had to die...but damn that he's the one who turned Lucious in, that's what he went to talk to Andre about. And Rhonda, pregnant, oh what a mess!

Anika and Hakeem?! The pillow?! The gifts?! There was just so much going on in the show, it could have been an entire season. I loved it and I hated it...but I can't wait to see next season.

Jamal is so unlikeable now, he turned his back on his own mother when she had his back from day one!

Cookie, this episode, was very Alexis...when she had her moment to destroy Lucious, she didn't. She took her younger man, had him, let him go, got in a great catfight, and then ended things in a gorgeous neglige in a showplace penthouse. It was exquisite.

The finale was written in a way that would have worked if the series lasted just one season, so I was okay with the fast movement of the some of the plot. The battle lines for next season are definitely set.

From the start, I figured that Lucious would end up having some other disease, so I was not surprised at that part.

I knew the second that Rhonda picked up that object that Vernon was finished.

Jamal and Lucious clash, but tonight we saw that Lucious also favors him in a way (which we saw slight hints of throughout the season).

Cookie and Anika's fight was so blaxploitation, but I loved it.

Lucious telling all his misdeeds while medicated was so dream like, but it was a clever way for Cookie to learn the truth.

    • I was thisclose to taking Kat's side today because of all that unnecessary bashing from Martin and Eva... but then Kat just had to open her mouth to Eva

    • Because Kay Alden (a female writer living in Chicago who had a big crush on Eric Braeden) wanted to write some scenes for Lori Brooks (a female writer living in Chicago who had a big crush on Victor).  The whole storyline was self-indulgent and foolish.

    • -- Jesus, that was bad. -- If we're going to bash Will's face-making, we can't let Luna off the hook. All that scrunched-face crying was annoying. -- Still no explanation as to how Luna escape, leading to utter stupidity that she gets away AGAIN while Will just stands there. -- Meanwhile, the entire cast hilariously gets texts about the jail escape and heads to the beach house.

    • I knew Ray Wise looked familiar (beyond How I Met Your Mother, which I also watched, where he replaced Eric Braeden!).

GH really needs to keep the WSB honeypot away from Emma, and especially from Gio. If they want to put the two of them in a triangle with someone, it should definitely be with Trina. And, while I don't like Sidwell or this storyline that much, that was a really good ending. I didn't see it coming either.
    • In regards to Long's 2nd stint, it appears as though she officially came back as head-writer between the 4th of July/Bauer Barbeque episodes 1987 and mid August 1987.. and then between April and September 1988 were episodes written by the scabs.  I almost count her having 3 stints head-writing Guiding Light since the writer strike lasted five months. In her 2nd stint, she seemed focused on the following: - Sonni returning from the dead thus keeping Reva/Josh apart yet again so she naturally turns to Alan and causes the ending of the Vanessa/Alan relationship.   I wonder if Maeve's decision to leave affected some of this because she was gone by January 1988, a few months after Long's return so she had to come up with a way to get Vanessa to take off (and it was to be there for Billy during a low point if I recall). - Phillip/Chelsea were pretty heavily focused on during this 2nd stint period and I liked their rapport. - A lesser focused story in the background was the Lillian/Hawk/Sarah situation - Formulating her next version of the 4 Muskateers with Cam/Dinah/Harley/Alan Michael... but in order to include a more rough around the edges Harley.. Dinah was softened quite a bit (though I did see a cat fight between Harley/Dinah where Dinah belted Harley so I think Turco could have played an edgier Dinah). - There also seemed to be a Spaulding takeover going on with Phillip trying to oust Alan.. and it affected his relationship with Chelsea. Post-writer strike, I noticed that the Phillip/Harley arc kicked into gear with him pretending to be 'my fair lady' with Harley.. but trying to set it up to look as though they were sleeping together.  That arc plus the aftermath of Maeve's death were what Long started when she came back after the strike. I don't know how the Alan/Reva situation would have gone had CB remained in the role and if the writer strike hadn't happened.
