Honestly, it's ridiculous for soaps to try and do mob related stories because they are no longer willing or able to write the kind of truly dark or evil villains you need to create in order to make the mob menacing. If you aren't going to show them engaged in pimping or dealing drugs or extorting businesses, then what's the point? Now soap villains are all OTT Joker types (the Cesar Romero version not Heath Ledger) and worse yet they are written as unstoppable in stupid ways. They mess with DNA tests, bring people back from the dead and make endless DVDs but they don't so much as smoke a cigarette. The irony is that I think some of these bored, lifeless actors would actually find some spark again if they were given the chance to play.

Agreed.I purposely avoided bringing up the PP shows but I thought of that too. I know that the story around Cass' sex trafficking bothered a lot of people and I completely understand why but if you're going to write criminals, viewers need to believe that they are capable of real evil and IMO AMC2 did that perfectly.
