Y&R has put out a casting call for a character named Aaron Newton, who sounds a lot like Adam Newman, last played by Michael Muhney, who left the show in late January. The contract role would begin taping in May, and the description reads: "Caucasian Male. MID 30s to LATE 30s. A very handsome, very SEXY, very appealing, very charming LEADING MAN. Aaron is a smart businessman, loves women, and can out maneuver even the shrewdest. NOTE: Actor must be AT LEAST 5'10 and have NO ACCENT PLEASE. This actor will carry major storylines. ONLY actors with strong acting experience will be considered."

That was whitewashed away.

While the name practically telegraphs Adam, I don't think it is him at all unless they are rebooting him. Adam was NEVER a ladies man. Never. And I didn't think he, played by CE or MM, was supposed to be overly sexy. This might be a new character.

But seriously why on earth do you feel the need to recast. The departure of Phyllis and Adam has been probably the best JFP has achieved under her guidance so far. So at least keep this up.

I don't know why they emphasize "NO ACCENT" in that casting call. If Bill Bell didn't have issues w/ accents (GOD BLESS ERIC BRAEDEN), why should JFP?

Unfortunately, though, it can't last forever. Regardless of how anyone feels about Adam, I believe very few would argue that he is someone who drives story; and yes, his history has been muddled beyond all belief (or help), but he is also someone with significant ties to the GC community, which is (IMO) always a good springboard for conflict.

How is this a slap in MM's face? Even MM said in his exit interview that they were going to recast in six months, which is just above the timetable.
