When was the last time we heard "The role of ...is being played by..." in a soap?

"Due to insufficient acting skill, the role of..."

"Due to ego and failed contract negotiations, the role of..."

"Due to a cocaine and alcohol induced rampage, the role of..."

"Due to back child support, the role of..."

I'll add that whoever it was I last remember hearing a VO for on GH, they did it not just once, but two or three days in a row. I'm beginning to wonder if it was Jonathan Jackson. Don't recall.

They did it 3 days in a row for Jonathan Jackson!

I can't remember if Y&R did one for Hartley Sawyer but I definitely remember the one for Melissa Ordway partially because they didn't do it on her first day they did it for her second appearance.

I do believe GH did it for several episodes when Jen Lilley first started as Maxie.

I remember when Martha Madison filled in for Liz on GH they used it.

The very first time I heard one being done was for Eric Martsolf taking over for Ethan on Passions.....they never did any voiceovers prior to that, so it weirded me out a little......of course they continued using them after, but for some reason I don't think they did one for Charles Divins when he took over for Chad.....

I'm sure we will hear one for Billy when David Tom returns on Y&R.......

Have other soaps ever announced that they were welcoming back so and so to the role?......I watched some clips of Andrea Evans return as Tina in the 80's and they did that? "One life to Live is pleased to welcome back Andrea Evans in the role of Tina" or something like that.

I wouldn't be surprised if DT got a "welcome back" in Y&R

Nothing beats ABC running the real Greenlee returns to AMC while Sabine Singh is still airing as Greenlee. No class at all.

Or walking Heather Tom around the OLTL set to meet her new co-workers with Tracy Melchoir still in the role filming as Kelly. TM said that made her physically ill and she didn't film her final eppy the next day. It was heinous! Leave that trashy sh!t to ABC!

Anna Stuart (Donna, AW), Robin Strasser (Dorian, OLTL), and Marj Dusay (Alex, GL) all received voiceovers that referenced the fact that they were returning to roles they'd previously played.

Excuse you, this was the greatest ad campaign of all time. OF ALL TIME.

It was insulting, doesn't matter how people felt about Sabine's version of Greenlee, she still didn't deserve that
