That's not on TG. Just because there is no LnL does not mean there is nothing for Laura to do. She has 2 children onscreen and one of them could certainly use her right now. Crappy are not going with LnL so they figure there is no need to have Genie. My guess is that Liv will be taking her place in Lulu's life.

I wouldn't bet against it. Ron Carlivati adores Luke and Laura and has wanted it all along - he was setting it up before Genie's break. The only way I can see it not happening is if Queen Geary proclaimed that he would not read the lines.

Precisely what I was thinking. Genie's contract expired and she was going through re-negotiations and it looked like she was coming back and all of a sudden, she wasn't. Geary probably had something to do with it.

I just don't believe "Cartini" would let Geary dictate their scripts.

Most of the vets get writing that is lip service and they get little airtime. Look at Kevin and Lucy. I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea, but they seem popular, the actors certainly aren't fighting against the pairing, but they still rarely appear. Mac and Felicia mostly appear in support of Maxie.

The show drummed up vets for anniversary hype, but their heart is with the OLTL rejects and pretty ponies like the Jeromes, Sabrina, Britt, etc.

Neither Francis or Geary seem to want to go there again. It's not necessarily a Geary-only thing.

If there was any doubt (although I can't fathom why at this point) why this shitstain of a show should be cancelled once and for all instead of ABCD's idiotic attempts to keep it going, that old fart's disdain of the true GH fans who've propped his egotistical ass for 35 years, as well as the constant disrespect of the Labine/Riche era (a.k.a.: the last one that this show ever had), should silence it once and for all.

I, for one, can't wait for Mo'Nique's new show to put the nail in the coffin.

All I know is I've been through this a thousand times with Ron Carlivati's pacing on two different soaps, where people tell me something is "never gonna happen," just look at the shift in the writing and the different focus that changed abruptly and blah blah blah... Bo and Nora, Viki and Clint, the return of Roger Howarth, you name it. It all happened. He always planted a seed.

Carlivati never forgets. He just waits, and plans. His pacing is often abysmal. And he will veer to and from one character or romance angle to the next very fast if he's lazy, which he often is these days. Two months ago it was Laura for Luke, now it's Tracy again, and no, I don't think Laura will be gone for long. So no, I am not at all convinced. I've seen this happen many times.

It's possible and I do hope Genie returns, Luke and Laura don't have to be together for them to be on at the same time.

Tracy and Monica I don't see them being the new matriarch of the show, Laura on the other hand I do, but I wouldn't mind seeing her on these adventures, wasn't that Laura used to be?

It just makes me laugh that they clearly reunited her with Scott for no other reason but conflict, and then there was zero conflict.

At least bring Bobbie back and have her begin an affair with Scott.

Tony seems quite miffed. I'm not sure I buy this story. Quoting carefully and selectively because I don't want this to be removed.

Two years later Wendy Riche took over as producer and Claire Labine was signed on as head writer. The fans didn't like Bill. They wanted Luke back. I tried everything to create a new character — brown contact lenses, beard, wig, new blue-collar attitude, etc. — but they wanted Luke and they were going to get him. ABC decided I'd once again be Luke and Genie [Francis] would return as Laura. I said okay — I was under contract — but they had to show good faith by allowing me to present them with a six-month storyline that would bring the couple back with their eight or nine-year-old son, Lucky — a creation of mine and my writing partner, Irene Suver, that has never been acknowledged. ABC bought the story, which included finding the family living in their own witness protection program in Canada, owning and operating The Triple L Diner. In the story, we devised a violent death of a friend who worked for them at the diner, which signaled their cover was blown and that the mob was moving in on them. They'd have to take off on the run again. ABC loved the story enough to take us all to Rochester, New York, to shoot it with all the standard Luke and Laura excitement — Luke hanging from a helicopter, Luke and Laura jumping out of an airplane, shooting the river rapids. Then, the story was given over to Claire Labine. She and Wendy were overheard saying, "Do we really have to do Luke and Laura again?" It was clear from the beginning they were not thrilled with the idea of writing and producing this couple. Labine then set out to deconstruct Luke and Laura, first by sticking them in a house and domesticating them. Gone were the rough edges and the danger and in its place Laura became a total hausfrau who was BFFs with everyone in town, and Luke fed the dog and fell through the sofa cushions. [...] Labine, of course, hated that and told me she didn't want to write an amoral character and that she didn't understand the Luke I wanted to play — the one I had always played — and if I kept insisting on making my character so dark by working against her scripts I would have to go to another show. Then, Genie's character left — after divorcing Luke, which no one remembers, to marry a Cassadine — and I started to get extended time off. [Labine] took her particular brand of fine writing to another show. But her legacy remained. Luke had been domesticated. I spent the next five years struggling to regain the lost ground and reinvigorate the more complex qualities of the character that I have always treasured. In the meantime, I've watched those qualities be siphoned off and installed in new characters until GH became a veritable stable of antiheroes, Luke being written the mildest of the lot — a phenomenon that continues to this day.

Am I ignorant and just not that well-versed, because of all the old LNL material I've watched from the '80s, Luke was only ever written as so amoral after the campus disco. They made him into a better man after that. I've always felt that Tony Geary basically coped with the return of LNL by trying to retrofit, both onscreen and in his mind, the '90s-to-today Luke Spencer as Bill Eckert, the character he wanted to play.

It also explains the divorce out of nowhere!

On another note - Emme Rylan is giving me life! She is everything right now! I look forward to seeing this story, her and Dom!

Just curious if anyone else is liking what she is bringing to Lulu right now?
