Does anyone think Agnes Nixon has racist undertones in writing the character of Jesse Hubbard? Black men need better portrayals especially giving the Trayvon Martin story.

Here you have a white man against a black man (David) and putting him in such a negative light making a white man (David) superior to Jesse. Since Jesse came back from the dead, it seems like writers are kicking a black man to the curb, throwing trash on a black man, making a black man inferior and slight racist undertones toward the character of Jesse Hubbard. Black men are so much wanting to be seen in positive lights with success like Bill Cosby on the Cosby show.

Why is Agnes Nixon allowing the writers to be a little racial with the Jesse Hubbard character? Too much negatively. Men of color need alot better.

Jesse was never married to Rebecca so the writers were incorrect and David was incorrect.

Why do writers feel like they always have to trash and tear down black characters, which is not helpful in this Trayvon Martin tension filled climate currently going on right now? Is Agnes Nixon doing a disservice to racial tolerance toward men of color in writing Jesse Hubbard?

Why don't you call the studio and ask?? Here is contact info for writing a letter!!

Just a word of caution, after you contact them don't be surprised if you see men in white coats walking up to your door and one might be holding a large butterfly net and the other one might be holding a syringe with a tranquiler in it......

I started watching AMC in the early nineties, so before he came back from the dead, my only experience with Jesse was DW's turn as Ghost Jesse (whom I loved).

When he and Angie returned to AMC a few years ago, I had no investment in either character. To me, they were new characters that I knew had a history on the show, but no investment in. I quickly lost patience with their reunion (again, I had no investment in the characters/the couple) because (to me) it played like ridiculous fan fiction rather than an emotionally charged story.

I grew to hate Jesse because (to me) he was a hypocrite/criminal but was held up as a wonderful husband, father and man. He was disgusting. He was a dead beat father who abandoned his daughter AFTER he used her and her mother as a shield to protect his "real" family from the guy who was trying to kill him. He sat a then 16 year old Colby down (after she was kidnapped and nearly killed by the guy who was after him because neither he nor Tad thought her father had a right to know that she might be in danger/she was worth protecting) and told her all about how evil her mother was. He was a corrupt cop who used his position as Chief of Police to obstruct justice (dumping Henry North's body), to allow people in his inner circle to get away with violent crimes (remember when he barely blinked when Frankie confessed to attempted murder) and regularly used his position to intimidate and threaten those who he and his friends didn't like. I'm not going to touch the Ellie/Lucy debacle or the constant lies, because it is just redundant.

The writing for Jesse now - today - is the best it has been BECAUSE he is finally facing some consequences for his actions. Yeah, he did what he had to do to save Cass, but he also broke the law and doesn't deserve a pat on the back for it. He DESERVES to lose his job and hopefully his job stays lost/he continues to be called on his actions.

This is the most balanced writing Jesse has had since he came back from the dead. You can have Angie lash out at him and be angry yet still stand by and support him. He has a true friend in Zach who understands and gets him and then he had an enemy in David that draws attention to the fact that he isn't much different than him. He doe wrong and now faces the consequences rather than his sins be swept under the rug or excused. Jesse is flawed and multilayered with good and bad. He's human and I would say that makes for a more well rounded character than he simply being hero with no imperfections. The writing has people talking about him and that's better than being a bore that doesn't inspire any reaction

ICAM! I was so sick of Jesse being portrayed as heroic despite his actions. It was a relief to hear David call him out on getting away with so much bullshit over the years.

I'm happy someone didn't call in to Debbi and Darnell's interview last week

I wrote letters to both. Thank God for the right to privacy. And for freedom of speech too.

This was amazing!

I haven't watched any other part of the show but I just had to check out this dick-measuring contest. Loved it! Each gave as good as they got.

I have watched Angie and Jesse since the beginning. How he was brought back in 2008 and not accurate from Jesse in 1982. I support Jesse because he loves his wife and family and the writers are way off with him since 2008. Writers need to clean up and give longtime fans our original Jesse back.

Because you are a David worshipper a believer in his crimes, his sin, his shame, and disgrace and are anti Jesse. I support Jesse. I am totally in his corner.

Amazing to see Jesse not putting up with David. I wanted to see Jesse kick David out of his house. That was not David house. David was trespassing.
