After yesterday's really solid OLTL and today's AMC, I am on a soap high right now. The show flowed so well.

Totally underestimated the huge nostalgic affection I would have for Dimitri. I thought it would have less impact without Erica and with MN not looking like the handsome count of my childhood but the second I heard his voice, I was applauding my laptop. And mentions of Wildwind, Edmunds, Sam & Maddie out of the gate, I am one verklempt 90s AMC fan. I really liked the scenes with Brooke & I can't wait to see where else he fits in.

Like JR and Cara- there's a very charming sweetness to their scenes. I'm already getting sad that he's going to inevitably mess it up.

If we had to see Celia today, at least my girl Heather was part of it.

I wanted Colby and nerdy Pete years ago. But THAT was worth the wait. Colby has taken my excitement for AMC to a new level. I bounced out of bed at 6 to watch it the way I do with OLTL. I wish Hulu could somehow advertise that scene on the first screen of the front page. It would be a banner ad revenue day for PP.

I thought on Day 1 during the credits that I would hate Lea. And I am so very far from a Zendall fan. But I don't hate her at all.

Excited for the Cass story to move into the next phase with her home and dealing with everything.

Rabidly looking forward to MORE because we got no previews.

I hate couple names but PETCO is the best one since RyGranny! laugh.png

While I am not thrilled with bland JR I don't want to old JR back either. It's been done. If they do make him "evil," at least make him somewhat competent. I really don't want him blackmailing Cara for steroids either. She is the only one being nice to him.

I liked NH's Colby the best but I think I will like Newton also. Colby must have gotten BJ lessons from Krystal :)

I enjoyed today's episode.

Maybe because I don't have the history that longtime viewers do but I don't find myself being put off by the same things that long time viewers are.

I like Lea, I like that she is terse and doesn't suffer fools. I think that Zach does bring out the bitchiness and if we want to see another side of her, there would need to be more to her life than her work. Paging Dr. Griffin Castillo...

Those scenes with J.R., Cara and A.J. felt organic and well done. No screaming, over acting or scenery chewing.

Despite Dmitri's need for teeth whitening, I hope he'll stick around. He fit in a seamlessly, even with the new actors, which he has no relationship with. Just imagine how it could be if he interacts with even more of the vets.

I'm guessing Angie will be the one to find Cass lying on the floor. Uri's thugs probably gave her some drug to knock her out. The aftermath begins.

Those scenes with Colby and Pete...WHOA! Those scenes definitely had my rapt attention. I don't think that AMC is going to become porn-ilicious however because we've hardly had any love/sex scenes so far. I can only remember Jesse and Angie and theirs were very tastefully done. These were a bit raunchier to say the least but will you hear me complain? Hell no! It was only a bit more than perhaps what I'd see on an episode of Mad Men and less than what I might have seen on Nip/Tuck. Don't know what it says about me but I can go for some edge, some sauciness with my soaps.

The writers have to sort of walk a fine line. They want to keep the faithful while drawing in new viewers. And people who watch online do expect a bit more envelope pushing.

Did anyone see that scene where Kevin Spacey's character 'services' that young reporter (can't remember her name) in House of Cards? That was more graphic than Colby and Pete's scene.

As for Celia, I wouldn't be surprised if the writers take her character along the route that Marland took Barbara Ryan Stenbeck's character on ATWT, but she'd have to do a lot of experiencing disappointment and heartache and being a doormat before that would be believable and I'm not sure whether we all have time for that.

    • I forget that throughout the 80’s the TV seasons were officially over in April. Not sure why that was the case but it wasn’t until the mid-90’s that May Sweeps became a real official thing.
    • Jon Lindstrom proved with Ryan Chamberlain on GH that he can play menacing and evil. He's not doing it here, and I think it's a combination of writing and performance.   To be fair, Longoria has modeled and has represented major companies like L'Oreal, but she was never a runway model. I don't have any problem with seeing Dani as a runway model. I think it's more than possible, and I don't understand anyone criticizing her look. I actually have a bigger problem with the whole "Anita is an EGOT" thing. I think it goes way too far. Give her a Grammy. Say she was nominated for a Tony, or even won. But an EGOT winner? No.   The fact that you're using DAYS to defend a BTG set is telling, since we all know DAYS is poverty level soapdom. I expect so much more and better from Gates.     I can't help it, but I'm LOL at the people defending that backroom bingo hall casino and making excuses for it. It's hilariously bad.
    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
