Some fans on another forum is glad Sam's rape was rectonned away. Also according to them, RH can make a rapist redeemed and beloved. Whenever Franco aka Todd 2.0 hooks up with Carly, I'm expecting all of her sins to constantly brought up ala Blair in order to whitewash Franco.

Wow...just f-cking WOW! Wednesday's show had to be the most horrendous, preposterous one yet!

I CAN'T with them trying to redeem Franco. That sh!t was embarrasing. Franco is NOT a redeemable character! He murderered, terrorized, stalked & strapped people to bombs, not to mention orchestrated prison rapes! "BUT BUT BUT...THERE WAS ANOTHER TAPE GUYS!! unsure.png" rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif WAS I SUPPOSED TO FEEL SOME SYMPATHY FOR HIM cause he didn't rape Sam after all?? WTF?? HELL NO!! RH's performance was one note garbage, he played everything off like some silly harmless joke thanks to the brilliant, soapy writing which seemed to indicate everyone in that room plus the viewers should cut him some kind of slack. I really can't deal with that.

The character Franco is only good for his short, "mysterious" stints where he terrorizes/obsesses over Jason. He did NOT need to be brought back with Jason no longer on the show. And James Franco should be the only one in the damn role! He always generated good buzz for the show & had a hand in how the character was originally crafted. He was devilishly charming in the role. Roger Howarth is too old and merely plays the character as a smirk stricken joke so far. A total downgrade. Ugh! Countdown to him becoming a hilarious, romantic lead rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

Don't get me started on those mumbling money grubbing bitches Kiki & Ava talking about Franco & arguing over the Quartermaine money in the middle of the dangerous duck docks rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

WTH? So Lulu remembers marrying & consummating the marriage with Stavros to protect the people she loves...but she still doesn't remember any of the people she loves?! Seriously, how do you remember doing something to protect people you don't remember? rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

This show BLOWS!

Not always. There have always been fans who believe rape is hot, or rape is about a man's pain. Those people weren't always catered to. Luke and Laura is the big exception, and there have been other exceptions, but no writer has spent so many years glorifying sexual assault the way Ron Carlivati has. This is six consecutive years of stories that make women feel dirty and ashamed, that tell viewers rape is funny, rape is sexy, rape is redemption, and that rape isn't really rape unless you are being raped by a "bad" man. Worst of all these stories have repeatedly told viewers that if a woman thinks she was raped, she's wrong, and she should be doubted at every turn. We live in a society where rape victims are generally treated like lying trash - why is a major TV network so happy to spend over half a decade consistently selling this viewpoint? (that's not even getting into the rape stories of other writers)

Soaps used to care about the women who watched them, they used to have writers and producers who worried about messages and the consequences of those messages.

Ron Carlivati's idea of "worry" is retweeting someone who was essentially laughing at GH fans and acting like they thought Sam was going to ask Franco out on a date.

If he wants to preside over a $5 Youtube parody of Soapdish, that's up to him, but if that is his view of soaps, then he needs to stop with stories that do real damage to the people at home.

Ha, I always enjoy your posts, but after this I want to marry you. HAHA I love how those docks are the ONLY outdoor setting in the past year I swear (aside from outside Kelly's) and yet they go on about how dangerous they are (and show it with constant crime) and yet Emma loves to hang out there and feed the ducks apparently (ducks hang out in dirty, industrial docks?)

Exactly.

I also think some responsibility has to be made for the fact that people are more sensitive to rape now--and know more about its harm. Even up to the 60s marriage rape or date rape was still seen as something that didn't really exist to most people. Yes there has always been an element of soaps, and romance fiction and other things that romanticize rape (and look at something like 50 Shades of Grey) but nonetheless.
