BREAKING NEWS: Prospect Park Names New Head Writers of BOTH ‘All My Children’ and ‘One Life to Live’

I definitely had some issues with both shows but I can't say I didn't enjoy both immensely. I hope the new writers can continue to give me what I liked and changed what I didn't. But yes in terms of the number one story that MUST go, it's definitely Pete and Celia!

I keep hoping that Pete/Celia can be salvaged. I don't hate them as much as some but I agree they are the weakest story.

Fans complained about daytime taking too long to replace awful writers who put out crap shows. The response on this forum has been overwhelmingly positive and most have found the episodes to be very well written and enjoyable. With that said, its understandable why some didn't feel this was necessary and this change happened within the first month of airing, not 3.

But as I said, this probably has more to do with moving to a 2 day format and trusting a different group to adapt to the type of writing that requires

However, there is no guarantees that these changes will do the trick. Time will tell. But at least they have the studio until Jan 2014. There is hope.

Usually people disagree with things they consider hysterical. But you're right I can't read your mind.

I guess we can't say PP isn't committed to these shows. If they didn't care they'd let them just languish and then blame the viewers when they failed.

This is true.

I can already see where this thread is headed but before it spins out completely, do we know that all these changes were generated by PP and not the people in question?

Simply put, do we know whether all of this was a firing vs resignation? Just wondering.

You are rght. Nobody knows if these were firings/dismissals and nobody knows but PP. This is still PP show.

Since AMC is done taping, this won't influence them for a long time worth of episodes. I wonder if this will change anything for OLTL since the cast is currently working on episodes now or just the next taping cycle in the fall.

Does anyone know anything yet?

Shows leave un-aired episodes all the time in the can and sometimes never aired. New writing team could just step in and overhaul the whole entire show, re-booting the re-boot.

I doubt they will reshoot episodes. They will just move on to the next ones

I was speaking to the previous and numerous occurrences where something negative was said or projected about a PP/TOLN decision and then anger and defensiveness and "cult member" and "true soap fan" rhetoric become the main theme for six pages.

I think the filmed episodes will air, but I think any unfilmed scripts won't be filmed.. and that the new regime will spend June/July writing new episodes in time for filming in August.

I always thought it weird that AMC filmed first, considering that OLTL had writers/headwriters/and all actors mostly in place before AMC did.

I think the promoting of scriptwriters to head-writers will change the show, but I think they will be able to resolve previous regime stories in a less jarring way (since they were there at the start of the story formations).

Plus, I bet AMC not having all writers meet in a writing room affected things (since I read both head writers were Calfornia based... so perhaps all writers will now be east coast based maybe?)

Yeah there's potential but so much has to be re-worked, with both characters and as a couple. I actually saw immense potential for them in the first episode, more than with AJ and Miranda. I'm surprised how much things have shifted in my opinions in such a short time. They need to bust out the crazy gothic story they have in the works for Celia because I can't with this Selma Blair from Cruel Intentions wannabe. Not here for that! As for Pete...I don't know. Rob is a natural but the change in his character is almost too much for me. I like that he resembles James so much but I don't appreciate his squinty eyes apparently being capable of conveying only one emotion: I wanna [!@#$%^&*] you, Celia. It's getting really old and actually creeping me out a bit, especially because of her naivety.

I would have Celia really be a bad girl pretending to be goody goody, and that Opal is right about her. That is how I would start to salvage the Celia character.

I was hoping the return of Colby might at least bring out the cray cray in Celia so fingers crossed for an interesting change soon

I should hasten to add that these new teams do all have a healthy background in daytime while also having worked in primetime, which is something the new shows have clearly been trying for the pace of from the start - changing and modernizing the rhythm of the shows, which I think is right. And I've really enjoyed their work as part of the prior team, but I would hate to think of an OLTL with no one with a background at the show at all. AMC has two people who've been there for some time, plus a clearly very engaged Agnes. I just don't think losing both Racina and Horgan is a good idea.

I don't see these shows as in trouble at all - except maybe the Celia storyline on AMC, which I think is okay but weak on its lead character - and I just don't see a need to rock the boat so soon. But if they can all maintain the quality and tenor of the shows being put out - specifically, in stuff like the Viki/Jeffrey/Banner story and the kids on OLTL, and not dumping something like Nora's upcoming story - I will be fine with it. I think new, current blood at OLTL is important and good, not just trading on the past, which is what Ron Carlivati ultimately did far too much of.
