GH: Discussion for the Month of March

His time on GH is of no consequence. That's not the topic at hand. You said he's a OLTL character, and I'm telling you he's a GH character. The character he was on OLTL is the same character he is on GH, and unfortunately, he has not grown a bit. One can only hope! Todd was a black hole on OLTL and found new life on GH. RH wants to be on GH as Todd and agreed to a short stint on OLTL 2.0 to continue doing that. Why won't you let him?

ANYTHING regarding Todd's time in Port Charles is fare game to be discussed in this thread. Whether the past year was a blip on the radar or not, he is STILL on the GH radar

Maybe not for a normal person but Connie set this up and fits with the way she's portrayed why she'd pick this instead of a more classy establishmentsigh, you only speak truth my dear

Then Blair is a GH character. And Tea. Because all that is necessary to be a GH character is to appear on GH for relatively short and minimally impactful moments.

I am not in a position to "let" Roger do anything I have no control. Only an opinion. Same as you. You can lecture me all you want. I still think you are dead wrong. My opinion. Guess you have to deal with opposing views like the rest of us.

Liz's reaction definitely seemed weird to me because it felt like they had this relationship we never saw. Maybe I was reading it all wrong. IDK, but it was weird.

I don't really think I'd be up for a Carly/Liz/AJ triangle. I guess it might be fun but I think Carly and Liz are beyond fighting with each other, especially over AJ (who I've mostly enjoyed in his return, although I think he needs more scenes with Monica and Michael and a little less yelling about relish).

I know some will praise the relish storyline but it's becoming tedious at this point (I didn't mind it so much in the beginning). It's the same thing day in and day out. It's time to wrap it up soon.

Ron just sucks the potential out of every story by either ignoring everything or beating it to death. I don't feel like there's much of a happy medium.

I actually knew a girl in middle school named Agnes (I'm 24 now).

I actually don't mind the name that much.

For some reason, Agnes reminded me of Maxie in planner mode. They could be either best friends or best enemies, depending on how their possible similarities mix with one another.

I associate the name Agnes with Agnes Nixon, lol. But sheesh that character sure was annoying today. The opening segment today had that scene of her and Mac that seemed to go on forever and I was just sitting there like, who the hell is this girl? I hope she doesn't stick around.

My take on Todd and Carly is I can't be upset. Partly because the only stuff that usually really upsets me about soaps isn't often about couples but about really nasty treatment of single characters, or history, like when they had "Todd" romance and bed Marty or when Jessica was revealed to have been molested, or when Marty became a murderer. I tend to take couple drama in stride for the most part. So even if I love Todd and Blair, and I do, this can't get me down much. It's a soap, people get around. I accept it and I don't rage, nine times out of ten.

What really keeps me not stressed about that, though, is how they're handling it. Because watching these last few days it's so bizarre. The Todd/Carly stuff has been a lot of bootleg old Todd and Blair or Todd and Tea material up to this point anyway, and that's just continuing - some of this dialogue is almost verbatim. I mean, Todd has been basically remaking his old "you are my only friend" speech over and over with all his women for years. First it was Blair, then Tea, then when he was Victor, it was Evangeline. And in fact none of those women were his first friends - his first friends were people like Tina's kids, C.J. and Sarah, or Rebecca Lewis. But it's a line that keeps being trotted out with almost no regard for the friendships he forged with the women he's loved.

Laura Wright and RH do have definite chemistry and are giving this their all. But it's so vanilla and generic to me - tortured complicated guy loves tortured complicated girl and they meet cute. But Todd and Carly still barely know each other. They don't talk about their lives, really, or their pasts or their issues. They just keep doing this Colgate commercial stuff. And yet they keep mouthing old scenes Todd played with both Blair and Tea for the last 20 years, all of which had the weight and benefit of long history which these two don't have, and so the scenes come off very strange. I just don't get it. At least 60% of this writing team comes from years of work at OLTL. They know what they're doing. If you want to build something new for Todd and Carly, why reheat the same material when you know at least a good chunk of the OLTL audience is watching, and that includes people who don't give a [!@#$%^&*] about Todd with Blair or Tea? Are they just that lazy?

Starr and Michael or John and Sam you can at least say they have done work on, even if you don't like them. They've put a lot of time into that and they've given a lot of time to Todd and Carly too. But neither of those other pairings are word for word, beat for beat the same stuff of old as Todd and Carly to me. It just seems like a waste of these actors' chemistry, which does indeed exist and is not bad. But they've somehow made a pairing with Todd Manning come off as the safe, bland non-edgy alternative for Carly when faced with her scorching flame with A.J. I don't know how that's possible to do with Todd, other than to suggest that they waited way too long to get down to the nuts and bolts business of actually romantically pairing Todd and Carly onscreen (dates, sex scene, etc) in a very bland and inoffensive way, and now they are scrabbling to patch the holes and build a house with whatever they can in record time. And whatever they can is old OLTL scripts. It's just weird. Why would you do this? Are they trying to win a contest to see who can flip a house - or in this case, turn out a new couple - fastest?

@Vee,

Who did Marty kill?

Besides LW and Roger's insane chemistry, I didn't see all of TnB or even a considerable amount - so the dialogue is new to me. IMHO, the only way to give Todd something new is to develop the character. There is nothing to lose here because this is a different show and Todd doesn't mean that much to fans. Not sure what TIIC are afraid of. They lose absolutely nothing if they finally take Todd in a new direction. It is needed and welcomed!

This is Ron Carlivati's MO... he basically takes scripts of old OLTL storylines and regurgitates them nonstop.. I hate what RC has done to Todd, that character used to be so unique, now nothing.. I hope the 4 weeks he's on OLTL Thom Racina and Susan Bedsow Horgan give him good material, bring him back to the Todd everyone recognized

Also not unless you've seen OLTL since when Todd first appeared, you can't really say much on the character, unless you go back and watch it.. It's all on YouTube
