People are going to binge, it's not going to stop. This 2 day a week is going to increase the binging. I know people who said they're just going to just watch all the episodes at the end of the month

I wonder though Dale is it the online aspect that is the issue though and it was easier somehow watching it on a television. Or if it was a case that since GL and OLTL ended you use your time in another way and now have to find that time again?

With the in Treatment comment, well that may be difficult for someone who never watched to pick up, but this is an issue for everyone. I have that whole series on DVD (both seasons) and I want to find the time as even though I have time, I don't know if I can just watch one or two.

I agree about more people binging with less to watch. This is how it works if there is less to watch and people aren't going to change their habits. If there was a good online community to discuss the shows or incentive to watch same day I think more people would be willing to watch same day. That's what happens with Scandal for example.

In Treatment was actually a great show with a fascinating, immersive format. They play it down at my local mom and pop video store and I just get immersed watching that show for 30 minutes in the place. So for Pepperman to name-check it is really exciting to me. It dug into a handful of people/patients per year, plus Gabriel Byrne's character.

These shows are never going back to more than 2 days a week. I don't like to make declarations about things out of my personal control but I truly believe that this is the schedule they'll be on for however long they last. It's not sustainable or profitable for them to produce 4-5 episodes a week.

I'd rather they balance out scenes with more people in each scene.. and just one on one scenes between two characters.

Also, I want longer scenes.. and not any of that whiplash I get from watching Frons OLTL.. and Frons GH.

I agree, no matter what they spew otherwise this schedule is going to stay for good IMO.

If they can't keep up with production at 4 days a week no way they'll go back to that

The prod model hasnt changed. They still film 5 days a week. They just only air 2 episodes of each soap weekly

For all of you saying how many people manage to watch shows five days a week, take a look at the other threads on this board and how many people say they skip episodes of the network soaps, just watch clips of certain storylines on YouTube, or fast forward through half the show. If dedicated soap board posters can't make the commitment to watch full episodes five days a week of a show, what makes you think the general viewing public has the time or inclination?

If the shows ever increase their weekly output, it would be to 3 times a week, not 4 times a week imho.. and it probably won't be for a long time to come if there is an increase.

I believe (and this is just my opinion) that people will make whatever time is necessary to watch as many episodes as possible of shows that are GOOD.

Same.

I agree as well with dragonflies' comment up-thread about PP being unable to keep up production at four eps per week.

I don't know about that. If PP owns the rights to old episodes, how does Soapnet continue to air them? Do they pay PP? I don't think so.

I'm still having more difficulty adjusting to the 24 minutes than just the two episodes per week. After all, I adapted to having no episodes per week for over a year. So two doesn't really bother me that much. But I am unsettled by the short episodes and I'm continuing to have difficulty with that. But I will adjust eventually.

    • And every show she leaves is so unstable it takes years to recover, if it recovers at all. Objectively I can say she has a good eye for the look of the shows she is producing, and she knows how to film drama and strive for good acting. I don’t really fault her casting when it comes to new talent, her FOJ’s sometimes fit and sometimes don't though. She also interferes with writers to the detriment of her shows, favors problematic men’s egos on set and gives way less respect to women performers. Her work is often thematically very dark, and misogynistic. Something happened to her a year or so into Guiding Light. The show starts to come unraveled, she basically forced out the writing team that had been bringing the show success. She starts manipulating things like focus groups to get what she wants, and starts building the shows around the men (Buzz as example) and weak women (Lucy). She took over OLTL and tried to fully direct the writing while producing the show. On GH her instincts were so disastrous that they forced Guza/Pratt on her and gave them Associate Producer titles for more money and some agency in the story. And even then, it took until the Brenda return to fully save her ass. And on top of that she is majorly responsible for the show losing Sarah Brown, Amber Tamblyn, Genie Francis, and not securing Vanessa for a longer stay. And now that we know Guza didn’t want to kill Alan off, her fingerprints are all over that one IMO. The only thing I respect about her outside some casting that Mark Teschner brought to her is that she recognized Erika Slezak was too important at OLTL and still too vital to put out to pasture as only the mother of Joey, Jessica, and Kevin, and hand wringing sister of Todd. Emmy’s aren’t everything. Y&R had been number one for decades and truthfully should have been dethroned multiple times but habit and name recogniztion count for something.
    • Meg Bennett wrote for Y&R while appearing as Julia.
    • Everytime Liam appears on Screen I’m like: oh wait.. hey. It’s Liam. He’s still there?“ Like i don‘t know what it is but I always forget that he’s still around lol
    • Heather is a director AND writer at B&B, both in an irregular capacity.   Lawrence St. Victor is part of B&B's writing team for several years now.
    • Not much to bitch about today, but Cat & Liam?  Could be nice Horton Square is going to hell in a hand basket.  First looting and errant pumpkins, now there's rampant purse snatching.  Alice would be horrified. Meanwhile, Cat has the worst luck.  Yesterday she got hit by a pumpkin, and today her wrist was injured.  I hope she doesn't burn herself on the turkey next, it will ruin her nails, if she doesn't get accidentally pregnant from the turkey baster first.

    • If I were Eva, the response back to Kat's uncalled for comment was 'Feeling is mutual, I wish your mom had decided to quit while she was ahead with Martin'
    • I think the question is/was less whether he disliked her and more whether he was throwing in the towel due to her stories all tanking.
