I don't think it does, IMO GH has tons and tons of worthless characters who can do nothing for any future story. Even some characters I can tolerate, at times (like Sonny). It's not about who Steve is now, it is about who he could be. The Hardy name is something the show needs. The show was built on community and history, more than almost any other soap. The fact that "Cartini" have repeatedly brought in people from other soaps tells you how empty the canvas is.

Precisely. This show never provided me with any reason to do so - no matter who played him - so his upcoming death only warrants a shrug at best.

If his death only gets a shrug that also shows how pointless it is. "Cartini" have not written one death on this show that mattered, and they only wrote about two on OLTL that mattered.

Good call! He should go as COS at another hospital, but at least he's not dead.

I believe that TIIC may have changed Steve's outcome, and that is good they decided against their stupid decision to kill him off.
