March 2, 201313 yr Author Administrator GH - Shelly Altman last listed as Breakdown Writer on February 28 Shelly's been stolen away! Easy guess here as to which soap she's at now.
March 2, 201313 yr Member Shelly has gone to Y&R to work for Jill! Jill hired Shelly at AW then brought her to OLTL then made her co head with Wolf at GH...she must be giving her a co-head position at Y&R
March 2, 201313 yr Member I thought she was stolen away by OLTL not Y&R. I guess we just have to wait for confirmation :-)
March 3, 201313 yr Member Brad and Michael start with initial thrust (although Jack/Kay/Patrick all can have a say in general story direction). Brad and Jack, in particular, will discuss story in long-term. The term "outline" in relation to B&B is not the same as on other shows - a writer is lucky if they get 4 pages per script. Kay, at least in the past, edits, but Brad always wants the final pass on a script. Patrick, to my understanding, offers broad strokes, but may still even do a dialogue pass for important (Emmy/DGA/WGA,etc) scripts. Wait, Jack Smith writes for B&B? Okay, I checked the B&B credits, he is John F. Smith. I supposed with Brad in charge and Patrick consulting, Smith and Alden's opportunities to do damage are limited. Actually, I assume Kay Alden to be behind all the story pitches for Dayzee and Marcus as she always was pro-PSA stories and tired to spread the story wealth amongst the entire canvas. I don't blame her that those stories always izzle as Brad dictates the general marching path. Pre Alden arrival on B&B the show barely had secondary stories anymore (2005-2007). I was a bit surprised that even as a script writer Jack Smith is still involved with plotting, but considering his looooong B&B background this seems plausible.
March 3, 201313 yr Member What title does Kay have? I don't see her listed as SW in Toups' list of the credits. I wish David Shaughnessy was producing Y&R. It was the last time the show was very good. Edited March 3, 201313 yr by Ann_SS

March 3, 201313 yr Member John "Jack" F. Smith was Brad's day to day mentor. I know, and he was associate head writer from 1987-2001 (and wrote a gigantic amount of scripts), before becoming co-headwriter as a training pad to return to Y&R full-time as then headwriter. @ Ann-SS: Kay Alden is co-head writer although she's an associate head-writer with a more fancy title, as it seems. Michael Minnis (a former Y&R writer himself) is way more involved with Brad than she is. Alden also (used?) to to serve as script editor on the show at the same time. March 4, 201313 yr Author Administrator Shelly has gone to Y&R to work for Jill! Jill hired Shelly at AW then brought her to OLTL then made her co head with Wolf at GH...she must be giving her a co-head position at Y&R Predictable, eh. Another FOJ is IN. It's their 4th soap together. Though I don't know if she's co-hw or not. Im hoping Shelly Altman goes to OLTL No way someone would leave a TV show for an internet show. LOL

LOL You got that right about no one purposely leaving a tv show for a websoap. I wonder why these people follow their friends from soap to soap anyway? Are they pushed out of their old soaps or do they like the power of having an in with the boss?
March 4, 201313 yr Member Question, the current scriptwriting team at days - do they all have a history with it? Because the scriptwriting has absolutely helped turn that show around. I never really paid much attention to scriptwriters but recently ive noticed that team can make a show (Days) or break it (For me, GH)
