Members frequentsoapfan
My thoughts exactly. Y&R seriously needed some fresh blood.
Members ajsp35801
Phyllis is always better when she is playing the supporting character she was meant/designed to be...an even better when she is the antagonist to some lead heroine...the character just does not work when cast as the heroine in any story. Members Darlotto99
im not sure what it is but watching how they are writing the Winters/black characters has to be one of the worst type of segregation ive seen in daytime. its like they complete split the characters off from the rest of the show. am i the only one who feels this way? Members frequentsoapfan
I probably would see them as segrated if everyone on this show was in their own different little bubbles.
Members Darlotto99
yea but the entire black canvas of characters all work at Jabot and they rarely interact outside the family so i looks as if their on their own
Members frequentsoapfan
You could also say the same about Villy though and really the entire Newman family. Adam is really the only one interacting with everyone.
Members psychofan
Unfortunately, this is nothing new. For the last five years, I feel like there has been the obligatory "black" storyline that just stands on its own with absolutely no weight in the grand scheme of things. It's a shame. Members bluejeanbaby3
I agree. They are all sooooooo boring too! Even Leslie is losing her sparkle. Only on Y&R are there boring black people...
Members bluejeanbaby3
On another note. Adrianna is a mini-Chelsea. And perhaps it is just me but I don't like it that (IMO) Kevin and Chloe are being dumbed down for this drug dealer dirty cop story. I thought Y&R was going to have character driven SLs with this new regime...
Members chicklitsandfantasies
Compared to what? The other soaps? I actually find myself interested in the black characters for once after the Winters boring the hell out of me since Dru died.
Members soapfave06
The Jabot/Neil/Leslie/Tyler storyline is one of the few I'm actually enjoying. Of course I'm one of the few who still enjoys Neil. Tyler makes Lily tolerable and its nice to see Cane so insecure, but I still have trouble watching their scenes. Mason Wilder had a lot of potential too, I hope they continue using him. The only other stories I'm enjoying are Summer, Jamie and Fen and Nick and Avery. Not much to choose from. Members dm.
I recently started watching the show in between reading books, and it serves as a decent 'break' from reading and thinking.
Members aMLCproduction
ajsp35801 Jan 07 2013 12:56 PM I signed up for this site just so that I could comment on this soap...it's very entertaining. I like how you have taken characters that are day players or on the far back burner to and wllowed them to drive story. Good show. Members frequentsoapfan
Lauren and Carmine actually had a little bit of chemistry. It was nice to see Lauren share scenes with someone other than Jazzhands. Shick was laying the Cassie stuff on Noah thick.
Members Soaplovers
I do think today was a fairly character driven day. I think remembering Cassie, even after all these years, is a very realistic thing that gives both Nick/Sharon an extra layer. Plus, it drives home the point that her death was the starting point of Sharon's mental decline. I did enjoy Lauren with Carmine... I saw a little bit of the spark that Lauren had once upon a time. If the show can continue interacting characters outside of their story bubble, then I will be happy.
