HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

But why not?

Its been five years, anything can happen, right?

You're right to talk about essence. You and I both agree that we disagree on what is essential to JR's character now.

You apparently do not think his being Dixie's son matters much anymore because he would just hate her because she was gone for so long.

I disagree and think Dixie being his mother gives an element of conscience and goodness to the character that is essential to making JR who he is -- someone who struggles between the light and the dark.

No, basically what im saying is that i wont believe something that is so completely different and far off from where he was for many, many years just because dixie is suddenly around for the first time and her love is somehow magical. You say, why not, its been 5 years. I presented a further point of happiness and out of the darkness than you, and you dont seem to be willing to buy into that, and im curious as to why not, when its been 5 years.

I dont think JR has to always be as dark as he was, but I do think that it was so much who he was for so long that to eliminate that and say he dealt with it in a 5 year time jump cheats the audience and is weak writing. Thats all. I am all for him not being that dark, but i want to see the journey. Not be told it happened. And i dont think that soarsed characters and nobodies leaving five years is equal to it.

In all fairness, how much work did Susan, Richard Hatch and the innumerable Chucks have under their belt in 1970? And look at Karen Lynn Gorney, who was the lead heroine as Tara - just look at those old clips of her. Oy.

Also, Michael E Knight, Marcy Walker, Kim Delany, and countless others had little to no acting experience plus they were nothing to sneeze at but they were perfect for the role. Especially Kim Delany!

JR has to change at least some. He certainly can't be what he was at the end of 1.0. Being in a coma(or as I hope being poked and prodded by David) will probably make some changes happen.

One thing I can confirm at the moment....full AMC cast list will be released today by Prospect Park. No more who is joining the show discussion/q&a smile.png

This thread will continue until about 11:00 AM, then we'll continue it in NOW IN PRODUCTION...won't tell you why smile.png

Damn, Ill be out from 11 a.m. to about 8 p.m. today and won't be near a computer! I'll have to respond to the news later tonight.

Actually, Viki was still in therapy in early 1996. Malone had further plans for Viki's DID therapy but those plans were summarily dropped. Seeing as Erika Slezak herself complained about the lack of follow through that year, I'm hardly alone in my complaints.

As for Todd, read my post again I specifically lauded his 93-94 story. Those two years held a gritty realism that attracted mainstream praise and anticipation of the realistic rehab story originally promised in fall of 94. A victim all cozy with her gang rapist and the gang rapist overnight rewarded with riches received a great deal of criticism, including from RH who walked out over the bad writing. It's always been a controversial writing period for Todd even Malone acknowledged that.

Back to my original point if PP really seeks cutting edge, modernized OLTL, Gottlieb was a better choice, IMO. I'll just be happy if Horgan abandons RC's silly camping of OLTL's last years and takes topics seriously again.

Yeah, that was a bad period for OLTL. Not as bad as the late 1980s with Menodarrah, Eterna and the Wild West, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Horgan was also on the writing team at that time, so I could see the new OLTL being campy, especially with Racina the infamous creator of GH's Ice Princess story co-writing with her.

With the five year jump, I say the more "legacy" teens the better. For those of you with your *fantasies*, that gives for more opportunities for hitherto established backstory. "One time, at Pine Valley band camp..."

ICAM! I'm really excited to see AMC refocused on the main families, not the Laverys or Slaters, with stories for characters of all age groups.

Agreed. Five years gives you a well to go back to without having to retcon things we've seen.

Good god, I remember how adorable the baby boys who played Miranda were. And how AJ's actors had enormous heads.

I adored those babies! Whenever they were in a scene I watched them and only them. One of them had mad love for Thorsten Kaye. It was hysterical watching him try to get through a scene while one "Miranda" treated him like her pet puppy: grabbing his nose and pulling at his hair.

laugh.png Oh lord... lol.

That's what my grandmothers 92 year old friend calls it.

We were playing pictionary at new years and when ever someone drew something circular she would yell out "Its my Boob!". When ever someone drew something long she yelled "Its a Woo-Hoo".

Some other old lady got the card were you can draw what ever and she drew a horizontal line with a triangle in the middle and I yelled "Its a Flag" and the 92 said "No, Its a Thong". For a second I thought she was joking but she got it right.

And I think Eric Nelson would make a better Petey... too young looking, I guess, though.

I was thinking the same thing.

My lips are sealed. But...

You can look like Rob and be gay, IJS.

Interesting. Petey might like other Peters?
