HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Sounds like you expected more of a Dallas reboot with three vets anchoring the show and the newer generations providing all the fresh blood??

All I see on Dallas is shockingly bad, charisma-free young actors with melting faces.

Anyone know the Vanderbilt reference? We might be able to solve this riddle.

"Wells Vanderbilt" is the fake name they gave Adam for the purposes of the audition sides. So what "Logan" (J.R.) is really saying is, "classic Chandler move."

I find the young JR very charismatic. It's Christopher that is the weakest link in that young group IMO.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed the reboot, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

I did not read the whole JR side, but I don't like the sound of it. JR needs to EVOLVE. This sounds like SSDD. JR was pretty much at rock bottom at the end and that has to change, especially since it appears JR will be front and center for 2.0

Same. I didn't LOVE everything but watching the reruns without overly scrutinizing it, I quite enjoyed it. Jordana Brewster is so blah though and Jesse Metcalfe is just terrible. He is by far the weakest member of the young group. Julie's the better of the four but Josh Henderson I feel has done a good job and will hopefully grow into the role even more.

So I take it that the Chelsea script added to Showfax is for Cassandra? Or is that someone else and maybe they are looking for a Cassandra while casting for OLTL's Destiny?

The new SOD mentions that a popular AMC actress told them she is currently in talks with PP but that scheduling conflicts may prevent a deal from happening. I'm thinking now, in light of the JR audition script, that might be Julia Barr. The AMC actresses most chatty with SOD seem to be AM, Jill Larson and Julia Barr. SOD talked with AM weeks ago, and her having scheduling conflicts is old news. And Jill was already signed on (unless that happened after SOD went to press).

Does anyone know what other projects JB has going on?

I thought Henderson had no real star quality, which threw me, as he was supposed to be like JR. Maybe he improved later on.

I think the Dallas reboot is similar to most reboots - a few vets, while the young actors dominate. I think that OLTL and AMC will probably have mostly recasts, and some returning vets, but I think that they can't really get away with a total reboot. Overall I think it will mostly be new people, though.

Hooloo came through for me!

Now the question is, will Prospect?

Maybe they woukd rather have Eden Reigel

I really hope they aren't holding out for her..... she would probably only commit short term, and honestly, its not worth it.

If CBL is willing, I say give her first dibs. She was great as Bianca.

My ratio is now up to 95% if that helps. Prospect Park announced additional funding via ARBY Financing, if that helps. No way they'd lose all that money and not produce something.

Separately, Prospect Park has closed its financing with ABRY Partners, one of the most experienced and successful media-focused private equity investment firms in North America. Since 1989, ABRY has completed over $36 billion in leveraged transactions and other private equity investments involving approximately 450 properties.

Brent Stone, a partner at ABRY Partners, stated, “We are excited to be partnering with Jeff Kwatinetz and the rest of the team at Prospect Park, and we strongly believe that they will continue to be a leader in their innovative approach to content creation.”

Kwatinetz continued, “We are privileged to the have the backing and partnership with Brent and his team at ABRY, who are proven, brilliant investors, and will help us reach our ultimate goals.”
