I thought Kevin Stapleton's Kevin was also very smug. That was a major component of the character for a long time. Gibbs just made it the entire character. Kevin's downfall was that he was often written as a foil for Todd. The loser, the failure, the spoiled brat, compared to our kick-ass "hero", who, in spite of a bad background, became the world's noblest and most misunderstood serial rapist.

This. Though not in the angry way we later saw in TG and DG. KS's Kevin reminded me of the loud smiling attention-seeking frat boy at the bar. It could be a little off-putting, but it was certainly a more gregarious energy.

Of course KG's Kevin was not without his faults. He could be a bit of a dick too at times, which more often read as brief flashes of spoiled brat.

I've said this often in the past, but in hindsight, JA reminds me of what TSJ would have been like playing Kevin. I don't think JA was awful by any means, but he felt more like a placeholder who lacked the dimension a child of Viki should have.

TSJ did, in fact, audition for Kevin. His audition apparently involved more unscripted improv by Trevor, hurling pencils about and throwing a raging fit. This is what gave OLTL the idea to cast him as Walker/Todd instead.

I thought DG had both sides of Kevin down. He was a decent, vulnerable man who projected a cool, collected, perfect front, was obsessed with being the alpha heir, but inside he was roiling with insecurity, vices and deep flaws in a noble brow. He had it all and was brought low by his and Kelly's own ethos of self-obsession and delusion. And then they rebuilt their love - for a little while, anyway. By the end of his run I actually wanted him and Blair together for real - they'd forged a healthy sort of friendship.

I'm trying to think of what minority actor from OLTL would want anything to do with this show again. de los Reyes? Nope. Purdee? Nope. Sumpter? Goldsberry? Stickney? I think that's a "no," a "hell no" and "bitch please!" That pretty much leaves you with Fumero's Cristian Vega and a recast Rachel as the show's minority "legacy" characters. But more likely you're looking at the characters of Sean, Vivian, Destiny, Rama or Vimal, Assuming the new writers want to pick up RC's mess.

When it comes to diversity, I think OLTL is basically starting from scratch.
