I love them too. They just come up with the funniest sh*t! Right now they both think they're mermaids! lol So precious.

Britney looked gorgeous! I haven't seen her so together for years.

Never knew of Gangnam Style before this episode. Such weird hilariousness!

Katie Who? Ellen DeGeneres Crushes, Delivers Best Ratings Since 2003

Dr. Oz also gets off to a strong start in his fourth season and Anderson improves with a new format.

While Katie got off to a strong start, the best among the talk show newcomers, Ellen and Dr. Oz returned with season premieres that were also noteworthy.

Ellen scored a 3.0 in total households in metered markets, and its highest rating since the 2006-2007 season, (Full national numbers won’t be available until next week). That projects Ellen as taking an 8 percent share of the viewing audience, which would be her best in that measure since the show went on the air in 2003.

Warner Bros. and stations carrying Ellen have to be very pleased. Ellen was tops not only in households but also among women 25 to 54 (with a 2.2 rating among the key daytime audience demo), women 18 to 49 (1.7) and all adults 25 to 54 (1.4).

No posts here since 2014, however, if anyone is interested, I did seem to scoop that Ellen has cut back to just 137 episodes this year (an average of 4 a week) (down from her usual 170-ish a year), and will be using 33+ guest hosts throughout the season.

Her first guest host last week was listed as 17138G (the guest host episodes are always numbered after the # of episodes she does in a season). I posted the scoop last week on my FB page, but no one seems to have picked it up and spread it elsewhere. I guess some TV reporter will eventually post something if anyone realizes it, or if the Ellen show ever makes an announcement that as part of her new 3-year deal, it seems she's cutting back to just hosting 4 episodes a week.

So, once the news finally does get more traction, you can say you heard it here first at SON!

Up until Thursday, there was a chance the Episode # was just an error (and should have been 17168G), however, this week's guest host episode was # 17139G, so that assures it to be correct.

    • Thanks. I'm glad we have some fan memories of these years as this is such a typically snide take on the genre. It's also poorly written and reminds me a great deal of the tedious "snark" recaps that became popular in the '90s. The end in particular. The 1979/80 stuff I have seen is much more polished than a number of soaps at the time. It was very easy to watch and not too bogged down in past story.  Margo is played by Ann Williams, who was on what seemed like every soap. I think she said Margo was her favorite role.
    • And the rating 'wars' continue...hehe.
    • Well, it was fun while it lasted for Rebecca Herbst. Le sigh.
    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
    • She’s INCREDIBLE. I’m so glad you enjoyed this my friend.
