She was once the musical director for GH in the early 80's, and then had the same position at Santa Barbara before she worked her way up to the EP role.

Funny enough, her first soap role was as a production assistant at GL in the late 70's before she went over to GH's music department. Of course, years later, she would Executive Produce both shows.

^^That was better produced and directed than anything Cartini has ever done.

I know JFP rightfully has her detractors, but she produced (from a visual aspect and certainly once the show made the switch to HD under her reign) a much better looking and directed show. Her production instincts are far more advanced than Valentini's.

I'm not judging this show based on anything other than how I feel about what I'm currently watching. What Guza/Phelps did, what Guza & Pratt/Phelps did... What McTavish/Phelps did... what Guza/Riche did... It has nothing to do with what's happening on my screen right here, right now. I am not going to be pigeonholed into the incredibly simple minded idea that "If you think Cartini = Bad then you automatically must think Guza/JFP = Good"

No.

I think Cartini = Clowns because they brought Jerry Jax back from the dead for 8 weeks of a pointless storyline, that concluded with everyone in town getting cured by dancing and kissing in the rain. No one died, except an invisible character (The Aussie Three excluded because Ewen was shot to death and the Jacks boys ostensibly blew up). For what seems like 3 weeks, everyone was depicted to not be affected by this pathogen at all -- except a couple of fainting spells, a few throwaway lines about skyrocketing fevers and the times when the prop/makeup people actually remembered to make the people look sweaty. However, for the most part, for a town of dying people, everyone was running around town like they ingested a bunch of espresso instead of a fast acting, debilitating pathogen. We even got to watch Sam take out the time to tell us all a cute little fairy tale, which, to me, was a kick in the face to the JaSam fans who have been jerked around enough this past year.

Oh! And why did Jerry do ALL of this again? Because he needed $88 million for some medical treatment? EIGHTY EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT?!! On what planet does anyone charge that much? What the hell would they be using on Jerry? Medical equipment made of precious metals?

Hey, look. Love what you love, enjoy what you enjoy. I just hate the blatant attempts at manipulation I can see coming from a mile away. So much piled onto the surface to disguise the incredible lack of substance. I sincerely think these two are pandering, doing everything they "think" is GH by mimicking what's been done in the past. Unfortunately, they're mimicking the location shoots, the gun play, the explosions, the campiness... but ignoring the characters and genuine emotional underpinning of the story.

    • Portugal qualifying was the only shocker. I'm really happy for Iceland. IMO, the automatic finalists – Spain, Switzerland and Italy – had the best performances. I love the studio version of Azerbaijan, but on stage, it was a disaster.

    • Randy (Doug's friend who works for Joey) -- Joey told Randy weeks ago that Joey's plan was to get Doug into so much debt that Doug would be forced to get Vanessa's real estate holding turned over to Joey, to use for money-laundering.  That's been the plan all along, which the viewers knew.  The only thing new is that Joey finally told Doug this. I think Joey is written badly.  I also think Jon Lindstrom is doing "Now I am going to act menacing".   But I don't really feel the menace.  It's too overdramatic and it doesn't feel like a real person.  Jon is a fine actor on GH, so I don't know what's happening here -- the entire BTG mobster premise is badly designed/written.  I don't know if Guza pushed for a mobster storyline?  Or did Jon?  (Jon wrote a novel about Hollywood mobsters). It just doesn't fit.  It feels (to me) like this storyline for Jon was just shoved onto the canvas but it doesn't fit all all. Monday's scene of Mona coming into the "casino" to check up on where Leslie supposedly lost money in the slot machines -- and Randy explaining to Mona that there are no slot machines, there is nothing but the card room.  I had to laugh because they had characters comment that it's just a card room and not a casino -- the show is now acknowledging that there's nothing there.  If they are going to do this, then have it make sense for Fairmont Crest residents to visit a high-end glamourous casino, and not a random room with one table. So what money is Joey laundering? A while back, Joey told Vanessa that he knows about her sexual philandering because owns the escort service that she'd been using. But I don't care...  I'd just prefer that the entire mobster storyline go away.
    • I caught up this past weekend. The show is better written, but I have been bored with the show. I did notice it ranked in the top 5 again this week, so that's a good sign.
    • I can't take this show seriously. I truly miss WJB writing this show. Bradley didn't inherit his dad's talent.
    • Maybe if there had been a good close up or two
    • I haven't had a chance to view the interview, but I'm glad Mike didn't get the part of Derek.  Derek is a badly written character. Any Ben Gavin screenshot from yesterday's show?
