Knots Landing

Dr. Ackerman shots himself in the head in front of a horrified Karen and Mack.

Linda is murdered and we see the blood running down her shoes :( I never felt the same way about Knots again after that.

Maggie's death scene in Falcon Crest. I was traumatized for years. I still won't watch it again.

FV was EP during the Santi storyline, but was not heavily involved in the creative end at that time. It was Michael Malone coupled with Frons's micromanagement, but the Santi story - Antonio the lost prince of the streets, Tico the elegant bad seed - was pure baroque Malonian excess. It was him through and through, the worst of his literary mind.

Maggie's death in the pool was the first in a string of extremely violent deaths in prime-time I believe. Dallas went further with April's death but I believe Knots Landing topped both of them with Linda Fairgate's murder. Oh yeah Scott's gruesome death on 90210 is something I never like watching.

The whole Scott storyline on 90210 is sad, and it's the reason why I just can't bring myself to like David. It's very dark and depressing when you think about it.

I also wanted to add any time a woman rapes a man on a soap and it's praised as comedy. I will never forget the high praise the soap press gave ATWT for taking a "comic" route with Julia drugging, tying up, forcing Jack to take Viagra, and raping him.

The entire Julia madness story, which was praised to the skies as hilarious and fun, was horrifying. As was Annie Parisse's "acting" in general.

One chilling thing as a kid comes to mind on AMC. I remember being shocked at the scene where Peg English was revealed to be Cobra.

Because his best friend leaves him for the cool kids and then he accidentally shoots himself in the head on his birthday in front of David? Wow that is kind of dark when you think about it.

How could I forget this. Donna Ludlow, child of rape, rejected by her birth mother after scheming to meet her, slowly descends into prostitution and heroin addiction. After a final rejection from her mother, Donna has an overdose in the home of Dot Cotton, the only person who took pity on her.

Warning - this is a graphic scene.

Some of the best EastEnders death scenes have Dot in them (Donna, Pauline, Ethel, Joe).

I don't think I would count Pauline or Joe ohmy.png

Is it that you wouldn't count Dot as appearing in Pauline's death? She's the one that found her face first in the snow. And with Joe, he fell to his death after a struggle with Dot & Jim. Or that you don't consider them great EastEnders death scenes? Joe's wasn't great, but Pauline's set the standard for holiday deaths on soap operas.

I thought Pauline's death was needlessly grim and then didn't even have Julia's Theme. I guess I could see some emotion behind it.
