DAYS: Peter Reckell Exit News

By SOD • Posted: Jun 13, 2012

As first reported exclusively by Digest in the 5/14 issue, DAYS superstar Peter Reckell (Bo) has been telling castmates that he is leaving Salem. Now, the actor's wife, Kelly Moneymaker, is responding to fans about his impending exit via Twitter. "Hard to say goodbye to characters who've been on 4ever!! Hard 2 believe Bo will be one of those shortly!" she tweeted last night. For the latest on Reckell — and when he is expected to wrap taping — check out the 6/25 issue of Digest, on sale Friday.

It's still a little hard to believe this will happen. I guess Bo has been phased out as a character in recent years, but Reckell is, IMO, one of the very few relateable leading men left on daytime. I wish they would write Hope out with him. Otherwise I say they should do a Hope/Justin/Adrienne triangle.

What a shame. Peter Reckell I agree is probably the only relatable male left on daytime and he has a very easy presence on screen. I don't get the appeal of Hope without Bo but I suppose anything can work. They get rid of Ashford and Reckell clearly the 2 best actors on the show and keep so many that really need to go.

I guess they may feel as long as they have Gering/Scott/Christian that's all they need, but Christian is loathed (he even says fans hate him) and the first two are polarizing, at best. That's not a good way to run a show.

I just can't imagine DAYS without Bo :( Seeing Renee Jones & Peter Reckell bolting does make me feel like the show is on its last legs.

I have a feeling we'll get a Jennifer/Daniel/Hope triangle. I also wouldn't be surprised if they go with Rafe/Hope. EJ/Hope would be hot though.

Jennifer/Daniel/Hope would be the best way to get the show canceled (if it isn't already there).

Ugh, I *love* Peter Reckell, he's my all-time favorite male soap actor. It's going to be a major loss to the show to have him gone. Bo & Hope are tentpole characters and a tentpole couple. They were there during all the ups and downs, thru mass serial killers onscreen and massive budget cuts offscreen. This stinks :(

There is no miracle turnaround anymore. I think they have used up their nine lives. They have no big returns of faves to bring back and they are so terrible at bringing on new characters and developing them, it's almost pointless. Maybe they should try and go younger like B&B has and see how that shakes out.

How long before Ken Corday calls him "just one spoke in the wheel"?

Lol I don't think NBC is allowing him to speak anymore since he's kind of become the industry clown

I wouldn't say this is like GUIDING LIGHT losing Ross Marler (Jerry ver Dorn), but it is awfully, awfully close.

My suggestion: if Bo isn't leaving Salem with Hope, then allow Bo to die a heroic and noble death, possibly saving his loved ones from whoever has "killed" Stefano. And let it be a real death, too. No last-minute coffin switches or anything of that nature. Hope needs to grieve for real...and so do we. Then, gradually, Hope should be allowed to move on with a new love -- perhaps Justin, perhaps someone else, but NOT Daniel, for the love of God.
