ABC Renews GH

The only bright spot in this bullsh!t is that I'll get to see my OLTL characters for a bit longer.

If they brought in some OLTL characters I liked, I'd be happier, but I don't care about Starr, Todd, or McBain. I wish they could bring in one who doesn't fit into the tropes already on the show (emotionally distant, pouting men; mentally broken, weak, yelling women). If the rumors of Todd/Carly romance are true I wonder how many Todd fans will be happy.

I thought OLTL had a pretty excellent finale, for the most part. The prison break was over the top nonsense, but it worked. Not every couple was one I wanted - John and Natalie, Clint and Viki's forced reunion (I'd have preferred they stayed with Kim and Charlie, respectively) - but people I cared about were happy, and the scenes and writing were heartfelt, and the cliffhanger provided a wonderful sense of a continuing, ongoing serialized world, which is the core of what daytime was about.

AMC I thought was doing well up to the last hour or so. The JR thing was so unnecessary, and frankly given the fact that Prospect Park had already lost interest in AMC, I found it cruel.

I'll enjoy whatever OLTLers I can get on GH. I do think this team cares about GH's history and fixing the show, and I think their hearts are often in the right place but their taste is often extremely questionable. The show's a lot more watchable to me than it was before February but I'm still only half-interested.

I'd also like to note again how much this articulates the profound error of cancelling OLTL.

Word about the cancellation of OLTL being a profound error.

In addition, I agree with you about the OLTL finale. Was it perfect? No, but I didn't feel as if I were jerked around like AMC's finale and I had my share of laughs and tears over an ending that both cast and crew put their hearts and souls into.

What's remaining of GH is due to Guza siphoning the quality into the shithole that it is right now. I'll maintain until the end that it is HE (along with his comrades Frons and Phelps) that ran this show into an emaciated corpse. Cartini is simply making what is left of it entertaining, which is fine with me since I don't give two shits about this show beyond seeing the OLTL characters that I enjoy.

I appreciate the honesty. You don't care about GH anymore than the clown act, Cartini, and that's fine. As long as you get OL any way you can. I can't be upset with you for that. You love what you love.

How sad that OLTL lasted 43 years and then its replacement lasts 6 months. I still think ABC was way too trigger happy canceling OLTL.

Which further drives home the point that ABC was full of caca for killing OLTL off in the first place.

I liked some of OLTL's final week, but the finale had too much contrivance (like Cole faking his death and going to live with Starr - why not just say he got an early parole?) and the weird thing with Allison reading a manuscript in a voice which sounded nothing like her, then throwing something at Victor in the most obvious reveal ever. I preferred the earlier episodes that week.

I'm no fan of hers, but she's right on the money about Cartini's influence buying GH another year. However, I wish that it'd had been OLTL that had gotten that consideration instead of being tossed out like yesterday's trash.

Cartini's influence bought GH nothing! GH just happens to suck slightly less than The Revolution. OL should have been tossed out like the trash it was because it was a mess and a joke. The show was unrecognizable with all of those raffle winners and occassionally featuring vets.

Tell me you were not a Rex/Gigi fan, the epitome of ABOMINATION! The Fords? Cartini knew those boys had no talent. They just wanted to see them half naked all the time. Jessica the teen? Not alot of words for that.

No she's not because they didn't do a damn thing that helped. GH keeps tying new lows. Not sure how long GH will last but sound slike a pity renewal to avoid backlash

Frankly, Todd and Blair are on top of the list of the characters that I most want to see again. While I'm over the moon at Todd joining the cast full time, I wish that Blair was right there beside him. That's one thing that I'd wish that Frank would amend.

As for Starr, my only reason for enjoying her on my screen is because she is the child of Todd & Blair. Not that I dislike her as a character by her lonesome, but her being a Manning and Cramer makes all the difference in how I have and are receiving her on TV.

McBain? I'm pretty indifferent about him (and always have been when he was on OLTL) but he fits into the GH canvas better than I thought he would. His consistent snarking on Sonny and his asskissers makes his stay a pleasurable one in my eyes.

I'd rather not visit the idea of Todd taking up with the Patron Saint of Chickenheads, thank you.

Frankly aside from maybe Blair I don't find the leads on OLTL any better. The characters I like would never come because they are too old or are not considered draws. Vicki, Bo would not come. I like Natalie but not with McBain. And I liked more of the peripheral characters like Kim and Cutter a. Todd, Tea, McBain, Starr do nothing for me and IMO add nothing to GH that's not already there. No diversity just more screeching women

and dull uninspired men. The show needs heart and cast diversity none of which any of these characters bring. I'm just waiting for Ted king and Trevor St. John to join to complete the package of over 40 emotionally distant dull males as leads.

I fail to see how The Revolution's failure proves that cancelling OLTL was itself huge error. (The only thing it proves is that ABC made a big mistake in developing a replacement program.)

When SFT was cancelled, NBC replaced it with "Wordplay," a gameshow that lasted eight months. By the above logic, Wordplay's failure "proved" that SFT's cancellation was a grave error.

It is what it is. My days of caring about the legacy of GH died when Guza/Frons/Phelps completed their mission to annihilate the fantastic soap/families/characters that I adored.

I think I am one of the few people who liked the game show Wordplay as I learned from it as a kid and I never watched SFT (sorry)... Of course, I think now I think I'd feel differently.

NLG has no remaining credibility so I wish she'd just shut up. Cartini, of course, will take credit when the reality is that The Revolution sucked worse than GH. How soon before the rapemances and talking dogs?

I find what talking dogs have to say to be infinitely more interesting than talking faux-chefs who talk a mile a minute trying to be wacky and amusing, and the studio audiences that applaud like trained seals who love them.
